Old Training Programs

Hey folks,

Here’s a little question…

I’ve been training for more than 3 years now and I’ve been followed by a coach for about 2 years so I have plenty of training programs for Mass, strengh, endurance, etc…

My question is…can I expect some gains by using one of the old programs I followed in the past year until I get a new program from my coach (use it for 2-3 weeks)

Or does my body will remember all of this scheme and don’t create new muscle mass? of course I will also ajust my nutrition with my training goals…

I need your advices. Thanks.

I have four of five different programs that I rotate throughout the year. Sometimes I even take parts of each and mix them.

I would see no problem with you using a program that you used last year. The reason we change programs is so that our bodies do not get used to the same thing for over a 4 to 8 week period.

ok cool! How long have you been training for? Whats your experience?

Oh…about 30 years.

ohhh I see…

So rotating old training programs can produce good results… great!

Your body starts to adapt generally at around 6 workouts. For me i do a very high volume period (borderline over training) then switch to a powerlifting scheme for a couple weeks, it works great.

I agree, I think the body does adapt after six or so workouts. However, you can continue to make gains after that. Once the body adapts it will continue to gain strength in those movements.

Personally, I like a six week plan. Hitting each body part two to three times per week. That would be 12 to 18 sessions with the same routine. After that, I would change it completely.

Always keep in mind what works for one person may not be the very best program for someone else. You need to experiment.

Good Luck,

Zeb

What do you mean by saying that the body adapts after six or so workout?..do you mean six weeks of workout on a same program?

but regarding my question…

For example, If I follow a specific program for strengh (ex.5x5) if I use this same program (same exercises and pattern) 1 year later…can I expect some gains by following it for 4 to 6 weeks or my body will automaticaly remember this training scheme on the first week and do not make any gains?
