Old PR Blown Away

Okay, I was on here last thursday feeling pretty high about setting a new PR in the bench at 195lbs. Thanks to everyone for the encouragement and pats on the back. So I started reading about the bench press, “Big Bad Bench”, “Bench 600 pounds” and realized I didn’t know squat. So today I go to the gym and work it up to 210 pounds!!!

Obviously there couldn’t be much of a strength increase in 4 days, The only difference was Dave Tates articles put into practice, (poorly at that). This site rocks!

To infinity and beyond!

Billy Boy congrats. I’m pretty much right there with you. I was at 195 too. Then I read your og post and went for 205 and got it. Hopefully I’ll push 2 plates before next year!

You guys are doing great! Just keep increasing your knowledge by reading everything you can find on this site and you will continue to grow!

When I try to tuck my elbows in, etc, I actually bench less weight. My sticking point is about 3/4 of the way off my chest, so I think my triceps are holding me back.

Any advice on how I can up my max in a day?

depsyphor,

When you hit your sticking point, flare your elbows out.

Personally I’ve been thrashing my tri’s lately.(see my post on the dips with chains thread), but the knowledge is boosting my lifts more than anything.

great job, billy.

PR’s are always a good thing.

Now go out and celebrate by having some good, good beer!

But Patricia, finding what good beer is deserves its own thread, if not many many threads.
