I’m going to give this another shot and make sure I get the time right. I’ll be utterly ashamed if I can get at least 40.
I’m going to give this a go tomorrow night. Should be interesting.
Awesome effort everyone who’s had a go so far.
It speaks volumes about the people on the over 35 forum that the thread in GAL that prompted this one, despite starting earlier and having nearly 3x the posts, has not yet managed to agree on a single challenge and looks like it is now dying a death.
If it weren’t for the over 35 forum I’d have given up on this site ages ago.
QFT. Talk is cheap.
I hate you JoeGood. I really do. Not really but I did around the 90 second mark. Here’s two minutes of complete and utter suckage. The reps look like crap, I look like crap, but I did it. I did my “realization” phase of deads before this set (12 @ 345).

Charter Member of the Hall of Ashamed here…did 38 reps last night @ 185, weight somewhere between 180-185.
Thoughts:
Weight is a little light; since I don’t lift with a belt, I actually felt a little constrained at the start because I was a little afraid to go too fast/hard and tweak something at the top of the lift; that, plus didn’t want to “touch” too hard due to being in a commercial gym. 1.5 BW is probably the sweet spot for this challenge.
Lifting alone, no video available, but have a countdown timer function on my watch so time was accurate. Wrt counting, I switched grips every 10 reps, then every 8 reps, then…so I’m pretty certain the count was accurate as well -glad I did that, because at 30+ reps, things started to fog from oxygen debt.
Bottom line, 100% certain I could get 40+ if my life depended on it; 100% certain I’d be dead in said scenario if I had to get 50+. Ms. Ouro is a beast.

I’m also thinking 1.5 bw would be a could spot too. Part of it isn’t the weight so much as just bending over and straightening up that many times.

But that’s the whole point of the challenge right? I mean it’s really about how your conditioning is more than how your brute strength is. I’m tall and pull conventionally so this damn challenge just about gave me a heart attack.
Would the next challenge be 1.5 BW for 2 minutes?

damn fine work James and PG.
I am working on a variant of this for Novembers Challenge.
wow props to everyone who has thrown down on this! Awesome effort…

Same here.

Just a point of note -Tim Henriques has stated that he intended the pullups to come before the deadlifts, but for whatever reason the order got mixed up in the article. Makes total sense because curls right after pullups would be bicep death.
Like I said in my log, the battery on my Flip Vid died during my attempt. I did get 45 but I think there’s like 23 or 24 on this vid. I’ll do it again once I am back from SC.
Great work man, 45 is no joke.

I’m a competitive guy and I wanted to beat O. ![]()
But she probably already knows that.
Heal damn shoulder heal, 'cuz I want to play!
Kudos to everyone here doing the challenge and hurrah for Ouro, she is my heroine!

You basically maintained your pace through the entire 2nd minute -your conditioning (or pain threshold LOL) must be insane. I had 44 seconds left after my 28th rep, and only managed 10 more. Well done.
Nice job DDot. Punnyguy is right about your pace being very controlled. Too bad the camera died. Did you start gasping after the first minute? Look at you rock out the double overhand. Where are you training with the hex plates of crap?
I was so winded I kept coughing and almost puking from the coughing. Years ago in basic training, I puked every morning when we ran. Despite any appearances to the contrary, I’m not build for conditioning type stuff but it’s always fun to try ![]()
GD flip cameras! Battery eating SOB’s they are.

At the end of the video is pretty much where I started to gasp. I saw someone kept switching grips at 10 reps and thought that was a good idea cause I suck at counting also (unless they’re cards we’re counting – but I digress).
The last two mini sets of 10 reps from 25 - 35 and 35 -45 were the same tempo, just I made funnier faces.
And the SHITE hex plates are at LA Fitness in Burlington. It’s pretty damn similar to GoodLife in Burlington IMO.
Awesome work guys. I am planning on trying this next week after the meet…
