Over in GAL some guys came up with the idea of having regular challenges for board members to compete against each other. Which was a great idea except half the members of the board are butt grinding A-holes.
So the solution seems clear; a challenge for the 35+ folks. I’d be okay with letting the Powerful Women in as well since they also seem to have their heads and asses wired together.
So who’s up for some challenges?
Maybe body weight deadlifts for reps?
So, being a certain number, means your not an asshole, lol. Since when does “age” have to do with who is an asshole and whos not. lol. that makes no sense at all.
This thread is for people willing to back up their words with videos.

Fuck, I hate when people quote someone on my ignore list. I violated my own policy. My apologies.
As I get older (haha), I find that I have an itchy trigger finger on the “ignore” button.
Not to derail the thread (but I’m old and have a tendency to ramble) but I am becoming much more selective on what / who adds to my experience and what is clutter and a waste of my fucking time both on TNation and in life.

Okay here’s the first Offical challenge
Max reps of bodyweight DL. Two minutes max time, try to keep any breaks longer to no more than five seconds but I’m not going to time them. You’re all grown ups and we’re all friends. Sumo or conventional. Lock them out but you don’t have to hyper extended.
Video if you can.
I’m going to try and do mine this Sat.
Bonus points for anyone who hits their age in reps.
Gotta call foul. “FOUL!!”. So, you young studs and studettes get bonus points for hitting around 35 reps (barely past puberty btw) but some of us would have to do 50+ reps. Hmmm, something seems kinda inverted there. Ageism is so ugly. Wait til the shuffleboard challenge comes up.

how about 2x bodyweight for max reps? I’d rather do 550 for 15 or so then 270 for a gazillion
Yeah, that’s certainly challenge worthy too. Do we want to say double bodyweight for reps or bodyweight for birthday reps? I would love to see someone pulling double bodyweight for that many reps.
Yes, the older guys and the heavier guys kinda get hosed in this don’t they? Man, if you’re old and heavy…yikes!
After this months there will be other challenge some of which will be 1-3 rep max oriented. I’m going to try and cover all of the various ranges over various lifts.

I’ve done something like this before (dl 275x100 reps). I suggest doing sets of 5-7. Step back for a few seconds and resetting. If you go all out the first set you’ll be done.

I believe there was a challenge done by Dan John that was as many DL reps with 315 that you could manage in 30 minutes. The pacing would be critical.
I wouldn’t do it because a) it would be boring as shit, and b) I would need to take 2 days off of work to recover.
That Dan John is a crazy SOB. I wonder if all the public programs he puts out are like tests? If you can do this madness then I shall train you for real.
