Helon Wheelz - the Snake Killin’ Mailman.

even though he is mean to me, I have to agree with DCA, Helon Wheelz is Da Bom.

For all you h8ers, I am at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando FL. The pain in the ass to traps region didn’t hit til I had been here an hour, so the plane ride was cool. The only weights here are on a smith machine, so there wont be any of that.

I am considering going to Orlando Barbell for a session (made famous by Brian Schwab’s log over at elitefts.com). it would be pretty awesome to watch some really strong guys training. Ill have to see how my schedule plays out.

In the meantime, I am the happiest lardass in the world.

Great tune, too (Helen Wheels, that is).

my evil plan failed, and there was no bench yesterday. today is my regular day, so benching should occur at lunch time.

6/9/09 5/3/1 Bench (1) 2d cycle
Bench
5x 135/185/220
3x 250
280x 1

Accessory Bench,
215x 10/10/7/7
Supersetted with Kroc Rows
105x 10/10/7/7

Fatness: 297
Time: 60 minutes
Money set 1-rep equivalent: 280 lbs (20 lbs under current PR)

I was seriously disappointed with my bench today. On the money set, I lost my setup before the 2d rep, and got stapled to the bench. Oops. Accessory bench and kroc rows also felt pretty weak, but as Meat would say, they were growing sets. Weight is up due to piggyness and lack of training in Orlando. Also, I had to cut my last bench session short due to some weird tweak under my shoulder blade, so my last bench session was also lame.

After reading Jim Wendlers reply to my questions last week, I am going to stick strictly to the Boring But Big template, and not add anything. Patience is the key here.

Some days ya got it and some days ya don’t. You did the required reps and the assistance so it was a successful training day. Nice job!

6/10/09 DRAGGY-SLED!!!

its been several weeks since i could carve out some time for dragging. since its the first day back, I took it a little easy:

sled + 25 lbs
half mile
13 minutes

next drag will be 1 mile with the empty sled.

As always, thanks for your support!

6/11/09 5/3/1 Squat (1) 2d cycle
Squat
5x 135/225/285
3x 320
360x 2

Good Mornings,
215x 9
205x 10/10/10/10
Supersetted with knee extensions, left knee only
15x 10/10/10/10/10

Fatness: 297
Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
Money set 1-rep equivalent: 384 lbs (24 lbs under current PR)

I hate my knee. I still havent made an appt to see the knee doc yet. Its not so much that the knee is weak (it is) but that my subconscious expects the knee to explode. This really messes with my form, especially when the weight gets heavy. I did better last week, I think, because I used a box as a touch point. There may be some furry good feeling psychosexual support given by the fact that the box is there, which is why I stopped using it. I dont like my mental weaknesses anymore than I like my pathetic lifting weaknesses.

Anyway, at 360 the first rep felt pretty strong, and I really wanted 5 for a new pr. I was chanting to my self backbackbackback kneesoutkneesoutkneesout but as soon as I tried to come out of the hole on the 2d rep, instead of coming up my ass slid to the right. I was all twisted to my right, and I was surprised that I was able to lock it out and rack it.

I start my deload week Saturday, and I am doing it 100% by the book. If I donâ??t like my squat form on that, I will drop my training max by 20 lbs instead of increasing it by 10.

I punished myself with brutally strict good mornings. I should be paying for those for a few days. that will learn me.

6/12/09 DRAGGY-SLED!!!

This morning I dragged my sled, with no added weight, for a mile, in 20:36. This is my baseline. I will start loading the sled on Sunday. I felt the need to drag for a mile in order to improve my base work capacity. I also started doing Atkins today, cuz Im tired of being an Old Lardass.

You do need a new nickname. Mr. MegaSquat?

Atkins is good, but you might want to keep the good fats intake up.

I think I’m also going to have to drop my squat max. This next wave will tell me.

Ditto on the good fats, keep pounding that fish oil and olive oil, MJ. I’ve done the super low carb ala Atkins and it does work. You just need to be constantly aware of the carbs after you ease back into eating them because the fat will come right back if you aren’t careful.

I will agree that atkins does work, but there is nothing really healthy about bacon…

keep the fats clean and you will kick ass!.

What will your new nickname be?

You’re not alone with knee trouble. My left knee now gives out every so often if I turn quickly. I almost went down in the kitchen yesterday. My right aches real bad with high rep legs. Getting old blows.

6/13/09 5/3/1 Military (deload) 2d cycle
5x 45/70/85/100

Pull Downs
200x 5/5/5/5/5
Supersetted with
Left leg extensions
45x 10/10/10/10/10

Fatness 297.

Itâ??s a deload. What were you expecting?
