Because I was late for work, I supersetted the last 2 sets of pull downs with rev. flies and side raises a1, a2, a3. brutal work, but felt good.
For some oddball reason, my 1RM equiv on military press keeps going down, even though the accessory militaries is improving. I think this proves Jim right about a comment he made on how important the accessory work is to improving strength. Ill carry on with the program with faith in the idea that my military press will take a big jump at some point. Right now, pressing 225 is my goal. As I have whined before, my shoulders have never been all that strong, and military press has always been my weakest lift. I attribute this to the myths about exercises with weight over the head being bad for the back.
I havent been sleeping well, so that might be hurting my recovery. I had a deadline to hit on Friday (hit it so hard that whoever pulls me out gets to be the next king of England), and sleep was sacrificed a couple times last week. On the other hand, maybe Im just a weak little pansy ass.
The DOMS fairy has taken up residence in my Hammz n Cheez. I will try to chase her out later this morning with some light good mornings for high reps.
I got all likkered up last night, much to the chagrin of my darling bride. A friend had us over for dinner, and he had brought lots of yummy booze home from his trip to England. After several PBRs, we had Amontillado (made famous in the Edgar Allen Poe story â??The Cask of Amontilladoâ??). Both Victor and I agreed that it tasted not very good at all. He also brought several tasters of Scotch. A taster set of vintages from both Glenlivet and Speyside, and a half bottle of Glen Morangie (which we punished mercilessly). We decided on the Glen M due to its appearance in the first Highlander movie. We decided to spare the Speyside and Glenlivet, as these should be enjoyed at the beginning of the festivities, not the end. I would expect some agreement here from the Elder Meathead Brethren.
My sweet wife does not approve of my love for whiskeys, so I was scolded roundly on the drive home. Victors wife cast disapproving glances at us as well, so I am assuming he got the same treatment. But, he was the host, and how could I refuse such hospitality? In a land swamped with Mormons (nice people, generally, but definitely not drinkers), where else would my friend find someone with whom to share such Highland bounty? Who would I be, therefore, to refuse this hand of friendship? I simply did my dutyâ?¦ And on the side of my friend, with the appearance of his most likely accomplice, how could he fail to bring forth the hidden bounty of Glen and Loch?
It was swell.
Needless to say, I failed to drag my sled this morning, but I made up for it by eating donuts with my protein shake.
All is well.
Enjoy The Fine Things Harder,
