I started working with 315 and adding one rep a week in July. The goal is 10 reps. Until today, I was not sure that was possible. #6 flew up. My spotter said he thought I had 8 in me. #5 was a little rocky and he tried to grab it. I yelled at him and said, “One more.” I must have been so pissed it gave me a little boost.

September 17th is always a great day for me. I died on a car crash 22 years ago today. I stopped breathing for an estimated seven minutes and was in a coma for three days. My family was told if I lived, I would be in a nursing home the rest of my life. Two things saved my life. God was with me that day and brought me back. Second, the gym. I was in the best shape of my life at the time. I was 199 pounds with a solid “three pack.” I was in a time of my life when I could train daily like a mad man.

Today’s workout was a great start.

I like to tell people it’s my second birthday. I’m the worst looking 22 year old out there.

Remind us yearly of this. Your lifting then protected you as it has since through lesser stuff. What a motivation for lifting weights. 3 pack then, 700+ club now.

Bet you’re not the worst looking 22 year old.

It’s all about the gunz. I wore a muscle shirt to Costco last might and my wife about flipped. Everyone else was wearing jackets. I told her I was plenty warm.

I was sick most of the week. I think I got ahold of some bad food on Tuesday. My gut is still not right. I even called in sick at work for day and half. I can’t recall the last time I called in.

I had zero strength today, so I made it a deload. I figure something is better than nothing. I hope tomorrow will be better.

I can’t believe how much this has taken out of me. I had zero strength again today, so I bailed on deadlifts, when I knew it was not going to happen.

I think I might be back. It’s first time in six days my stomach is not bothering me. I hit it hard, and my arms dragging.

Could not imagine doing those carries period, much less under the weather.

Last week would have been a no go. I think I’m back to normal. I pride myself in never getting sick, but last week kicked my butt.

I decided to stick with singles today. I had been working on reps at 315 and worked up to six. My buddy suggested I now stick with 345 and work on reps from there. It seems like a good idea, so I will give it a shot.
