Sandbags are interesting. I always have something else in mind, or think about pulling the plug. It seems I always change my plans and/or do more than I thought I would.

My daughter’s college boyfriend is staying with us a couple days. I’m not sure what to think about him. He’s not a very big guy, so you can bet I was not wearing sleeves.

Initial intimidation’s always a good idea for meeting the new boyfriend.

Sandbag work 'll underscore the intimidation.

I have met this kid twice now, and he has not tried to kiss my ass once. He just stayed upstairs at our house for two days. That’s where I keep all my powerlifting trophies and awards. Not once did he ask me about all of it. He even called me Bill once. Lucky for him it got back that we are not at a first name basis yet. He left yesterday with two Sirs.

I think arm sizes and gauging sizes of guys are byproducts of lifting.

Yep. It’s what we do. Starting at a new gym I see it. I’m now at the receiving end of it there.

The goal today was to make it where it is hard to walk afterwards. I did not miss it by much. I tried the new belt squat machine at the gym, but I could not figure out how to make the damn thing work.

I went home for the sled work. I paced out the distance and then hit it. I have a slight incline in the driveway. Going that direction was much harder. I am looking forward to seeing what the sled will bring to my training. I want to use it weekly on sandbag night.

I understand that sled pulling while walking backwards really affects the legs.

That it does, biker.

Thanks for the great tip. I’ll give it a shot.

No sandbag tonight. Just straight up using the new toy. The goal is going to be to use both on Wednesday nights. Biker was right, going backwards was a little harder than I thought it would be. I kept it pretty light, but I could still feel it in my quads.

I planned on going to the gym after work, but I was too tired and not in the mood. It’s so nice to have the equipment at home.

Feel any of the prowler work with all those sandbag carries?
