That’s a little more than I can handle. I’d rather skip the Zoom meeting. I just found out, I have one next week too.

Yesterday one of my gym brothers called to tell me one of our other gym bros had died. He was only 42 with a wife and had a seven year old daughter. He was really great guy who has probably been going to our gym at least 15 years. In fact, I would consider him an associate member or our crew. Today my same gym brother texted me to let me know they called the other guy’s wife. They were told he had covid. I’m in total shock. He was a young guy, and in really good shape. He’ll be missed by the entire morning crew.
That’s awful. 42 is crazy, especially being in great shape.
Yep. He and his brother owned an Asian restaurant here in town. They sold it and started a beer company in Vietnam. His brother moved there to run the company. My buddy would come and go. The last time he left for six months. He went from probably 215 pounds to 150. He gain most of his weight back and then lost a bunch again.
Long story short, I don’t know if he had underlying conditions. He appeared to be in good shape. I was just spotting him on the incline bench a few weeks ago.
I lost a very old friend, from the age of 5, earlier this week to Covid. My age, and had a kidney transplant and the antirejection drugs apparently nullified the effects of 3 doses of the vaccine. I have to go to a funeral Monday.
Wife told me last night that an old friend of hers, also my age, died in 2 days from pneumonia. He had a cough, dead two days later. Packed church, and it was a city funeral.
This was my second gym buddy to pass in the last six months. The other was 55 years old, and in good shape. He was a former boxer. We used to bench together, and he pushed me harder than anyone. He had cancer.

Pretty strong today. 635 was just short of locking out, but close enough for me to count. I do wear wrist straps and a belt for everything after 405.
1/635 Great work.
Yep. Extremely adequate.

40 Yard Sprints: 2
40 Yard Backwards: 2
40 Yard Butt Kickers: 2
40 Yard Sprints: 2
My left hip still hurts from last week’s sprints, so I was not able to do my normal conditioning night. The sprints were slower than normal.
I’ve been thinking about bear crawls. They suck. I remembered playing football. One year I did something bad. I can’t even recall what I did. I just remember the coach gave me 1000 yards worth. Later, when I was a coach, I delt those suckers out like they were nothing. 20 yards today was about all I wanted to do.
Sprints for the Win! Hoping to get to them mid to April when the air temps at 5AM are little friendlier! Nice work, sir!

Sandbag Shoulder Carry: 1500 steps x 200
Sandbag Bearhug Carry: 500 steps x 200
Sandbag Suitcase Carry: 100 steps x 100
Overhead BB Carry: 100 steps
Farmers’ Carry: 300 steps x 65 in each hand
600 steps x 55 in each hand
I got home from work, and we had our first legit warm day. 70 degrees. The first set of shoulder carries was 1000 steps, which is by far a 200 pound record. I have everything paced out and marks on the driveway. The photo below is an example. 500 steps was past the trees and to the right.
How much do you think sandbag work has contributed to your lifts?
I think there has to be some crossover. I think sandbag carries are harder than anything I do in the gym. I only got into it because you and some others were talking about sandbags when everything was closed down. I thought it sounded interesting, and it was a cheap piece of new equipment for my home gym.
I should have said has sandbag work affected your benching? You were already doing great deads before the sandbag work.
I don’t know if it has helped my bench or not.
