Old Guy Strength

Yep, if this goes longer, I am thinking of buying a hex bar.

Any word about when your gyms are opening back up?

Can’t go wrong with trap bar!

No. Our stay at home order is good until May 4th. There is rumor it might be extended until the 18th. Washington joined Oregon and California, so I guess who knows.

I was thinking gyms could be like golf courses and you would need to make a T-time. Perhaps you need to call ahead and make a reservation for a workout time. That would keep crowds down.

My friend owns a gym in another town not far from here. She’s a great person, and has sponsored me in meets. She told me if things do not open up the first part of May she will probably go bankrupt. Sad…

Yeah, we’ll see. I am starting to collect more gear.

Just like everyone else on here. I even have Rogue fitness on speed dial.

Thanks. I just saw she posted a Good Fund Me page on Facebook to raise money for the workers she had to lay off.

Yep, we’ll see how long my wife puts up with it. My saving grace is my kids are also lifters and they are in the garage just as much as I am.

That was the most I have front squatted in a while. I only had five in me at that point. I was not going to do the Farmer’s Walk today, but biker got me thinking about it. I didn’t go near as far as last time. No neighbors were out, so I was on my own.

Neighbors will probably install wildlife cameras for when they’re absent. You like those chains.

Are you an adjunct for the uni course you teach?

Yep. My side job. Although in nine years I have never seen a check. Two kids in private school who are now in college. It helps pay for all of that.

This workout reads like it was done in a commercial gym.

I’m jealous, including the chains.

Have they reached out to you about the class given the current situation? I work at a state flagship university (you might be able to figure it out from my screen name) and things are looking pretty dicey for the '20-'21 school year.

Thanks. I was just thinking last night, I am getting pretty comfortable. In some ways it’s going to be hard to get back.

No. My daughter goes to Washington State, and they just said they are planning on in person classes. My son will be going to Gonzaga Law in the fall they are saying the same things. My school is a small private school. The only thing they have said is graduation is in September.

I don’t know if you’ve been paying attention to the news re higher ed, things are looking rough for many schools. The administration at my school has planned for a revenue loss well into the double-digit percentages for the upcoming academic calendar year and we’re already in for a 5 percent reduction for the current one - and that’s after the federal offset from the CARES act is included. Furloughs are probably coming for staff, administration taking pay cuts and faculty have to forego overload pay when they teach extra courses.
