Boot Camp

I found out Tuesdays are all cardio and no weights. It’s a hellava workout. I dropped three pounds in an hour. Time to shut it down and get ready for Saturday.

Strong and tough. Should help for Saturday.

I took the day off from work to move my son. I am off tomorrow as well to travel to weigh in.

I hit the gym this morning and opened with stretching. I then got on the bench and practiced my form with just the bar. This was followed with 35 minutes of treadmill and 406 calories. I’ll do the same thing tomorrow, before we leave town.

Stretching and treadmill 35 minutes / 367 calories.

Now for a road trip and weigh in.

The meet was a mixed bag. My goal was to go six for six. I ended up five for six. I played it really conservative due to this being my first raw meet. Also the world records were pretty low. I opened on the bench at only 285. It was real easy. I then hit 303. Again, real easy. For the third lift I hit 325. I had no problems here either, but I felt a strain in my left pec. Since I broke a record, I was up for a fourth. I set it at 400. The more I thought about it, I was not too sure with my pec hurting. I then then took a pass. For deadlift I opened at 365. There were no problems. I then hit 402. For the third I attempted 425. I’m not sure what I did, but I lost the handle at the top.

I set world records in the law / fire division. If nothing else it gives me a good starting point for next year. I plan on doing a meet in March. My goal is to be 30 pounds lighter and with a 900 push / pull total.

Boot Camp

I had several people tell me they can see I have lost some weight, to that’s nice. The wife and I are going back to Vegas at the end of next month, and I want to lose 15 pounds by then.

Boot camp tonight was brutal. It is the only one I can attend this week. The class I teach at the university start tomorrow and I have some stuff to do with my real job Thursday night.

“…I set world records in the law / fire division…”

Must have been a good time.

Cool man, sounds like a good (re)start to doing meets again.

Hope the pec was just a passing thing.

Bench:
135 x 10, 185 x 5, 225 x 3, 245 x 2, 275 x 1

Incline Flies:
4 sets x 20 reps x 35

Svend Press:
2 sets x 50 reps x 2 plates (10s)
2 sets x 50 reps x 3 plates (10s)

I was back at it and went really light. My left pec is still strained. I probably could have gone heavier, but I did not want to chance it.

I’m now down 10 pounds from a month ago. I want to lose 10 more by this time next month.

Bootcamp

There was no hill running tonight but it about killed me. I worked off three pounds in the hour.

13 pounds in less than a month. What is this stuff like? Crossfit?

Its hard to explain. It’s constant movement. There is a large park in town with a hill. Somedays we use the hill. Other days, like last night, we don’t. They use dumbbells most days and a lot of running. In between there are different exercises like jumping jacks, mountain climbers, and squats.

One guy is in his mid-sixties and has been going for five years. He runs like a deer. No one get’s left behind, however, and we don’t move on to the next thing until everyone is ready.

It’s six weeks long, and I would like to sign up for the next session, but we’ll see.

Reverse OHP:
135 x 5, 155 x 5, 185 x 5

BB Shrugs:
4 sets x 20 reps x 315

BB Holds (as long a possible)
2 sets x 405

DB Side Raises:
4 sets x 10 reps x 40

It was nice to free up some time to get in after work.

All that conditioning and you’re still strong as hell. Very impressive.

Thanks. I’m starting to feel better too.

Boot Camp

The word for tonight was brutal. At one point I thought I would puke. Even the people who go all the time were saying how hard it was.

I have a strategy, however. I am stronger than other people there. For the parts that require dumbbells I blow through it, so I have a longer rest period.

I agree. Incredible.
