Have you been hydrating already?

No crunches tonight.

Okay Mr. Dangerous curves. Question. What am I doing wrong on the one leg elevated hip thrusts. My left hamstring cramps up everytime. Would this be a foot placement issue? Or just do I need to do something else to fix it? Such as, stretches, foam roller etc…

You rang?? Can’t link to vids (age related), but check out Brett ‘The Glute Guy’ Contereas for sure. But IF your driving foot/ heal is to close to your seat, it keeps your hams bunched up, and makes it tough for your hips to fully extend at the top position. You also may be driving up ONLY from your heals? I prefer to keep my feet flat and push with the whole foot. Plus, it’s a bit odd at first no matter what! I’d go with both feet flat, use a DB or plate, in the hip crease (on a pad), and “scoope your hips up and under” until you get to extension.
Remember: NOT hyper-ext. in lower back; it’s all but taken out of this move. It’s full hip extension, squeezing the glutes/hips (hams to lesser extent).

I’m standing, doing this right now, as I type; feels great! Really wakes things up… You’ll find your groove, enjoy!

Okay. I will go over the BC thing again. Maybe I missed something. I am good with standard glute bridges. It will comply. To resist is futile. ( must be said like Data on StarTrek)

You left yourself WIDE OPEN on that last remark, but I will take the high road here and refrain myself.

Thank you!!!

Correct, wide open. But not Too wide…kinda wide but…anyway.

I think the balance issue, doing single legs, will increase the Ham work for sure (perhaps adding to cramping while it’s still a new move). I prefer the standard Hip Thruster; both feet down, done for power/ strength. Helps with my sumo pull lockout/ squats too. I’ll hit 4-6 reps, up to sets of 15 sometimes.
Forceful but controlled, hard flex/squeeze ( there he goes again…) at the top of every rep.

Oh the memories! It has been so long I nearly forgot. :smirk:

Too funny Miss Chick!

Wouldn’t 7 of 9 from Voyager be more appropriate for you?

Never really got into the Voyager seiries that much. Besides, I could NEVER pull off wearing that suit. :weary:

Just wanted to say, you seem to be enjoying the process in here. That’s what it’s all about. I saw that you gave a lady in the beginner’s forum some good advice about excuses/ food on a budget. I really admire you doing what you do while raising a son with special needs on your own. Not easy.

I vote for building a booty to match. I really don’t think you’re going to “ruin your figure” here. And if you really decide you’re too thick, you can just pull back for a few months and it will go away. Have fun pursuing your strength goals.

Thank you PP. My lil dude is the answer to a prayer, just not the one I was expecting, but the right one. He is truly an awesome kid.

No fear of ruining my figure…lol. It just feels foreign to me right now, because it has never been like that. People here think I am nuts for wanting to learn to lift. It is something I have wanted to do for over 20 years and I am finally doing it. :grinning:

Now, if I could learn how to crank out some pull ups. You are such an inspiration!

I don’t get a vote, but I agree 100%.

I got a little bit of that from people, too. “Oh, but you don’t want to get bulky!” “You aren’t trying to get big, are you?” I still hear some women say discouraging things about female athletes weight training. “I stopped lifting weights because my bicep was getting so bulky!” Someone telling me that she didn’t want her high school daughter lifting weights for volleyball because “they all get such big thighs.” It drives me nuts because strength training actually makes young female athletes less likely to be injured. Food choices tend to make us bulky. There’s just a lot of misinformation out there. I think a lot of people picture these chemically enhanced women like Iris Kyle. Haha!!

Oh yes, definitely! They used to send me pics and say, " you don’t want to look like this." I usually reply with the driest, vein popping, pic of Dana Lynn Bailey I can find and tell them …“oh no, I want look like this”…lol That shuts them up.
Like I have snowballs chance in hell of looking like that. Really?
I must be doing something right this time, because I haven’t gotten any, you’re too skinny comments lately.

If sexy is, what sexy does, I screwed! I’m logging this shit as sledgehammer swings… :joy:
