Thats my week so far. Happy with today, only got 4 hours sleep last night so to power snatch upto 2.5kg below max is pretty good. No missed lifts today. Operation muscle has begun so I’m doing a touch more volume on legs to try and gain some muscle, I cant justify weighing in 2kgs below my catagory cutoff at this bf%. So I’m going to add some size to my legs and lose some tub.

Well, training at my club is only possible on monday, wednesdays and friday (not on holidays). This other gym is opened from monday-friday but it also depends if its a holiday or if there are any special events (because the gym is located in the basement of the Ernst Happel Stadion, a football stadium).

I think february would be a good time if you want to come over. I don’t have any classes in february so the only things I will be doing is studying at home during the day and training in the evening (yes, I’m a student). Unfortunately, I can’t offer you a place to stay :confused:

I keep ‘short stepping’ on my jerks. I’m trying to think about getting down lower and fast and reach further with my front foot but I’m still doing it. Is there a better way to think about it or a cue that might help? I get the feeling thinking about being fast is tensing me up and slowing me down.

I have some videos of what I’m doing if that doesn’t make sense.

I missed a clean tonight by falling backwards lol. That has never happened before. I was too tired I think and I lost my back arch and just tipped over :smiley:

I was in Scotland and REALLY wanted to go to London to see Koing but I was there with my mom and she was a pain in the ass about it =(

Very true, I’m only a 15-20 minute walk away from platforms and bumpers and eleiko bars. Got it pretty good (and the walk helps keep me a little leaner I think haha). A training vacation would be awesome though, could head down to California to check out Abadjiev’s facility and Pendlay’s facility, or there’s a training institute down in New Caledonia I believe that I’ve heard good things about, hell even over to Quebec would be cool haha.

I find that when I think about being fast, I inevitably wind up fucking something up. For me, if I hit the positions and if the bar’s in the right spot, being “faster” tends to come naturally without thinking about it. It’s also something that kind of happened naturally as my jerks got heavier, and they became less of powering the weight up and more of pushing myself under the bar. Though I realize that’s probably not very helpful, haha, sorry.

Anytime I’ve missed a clean by falling backwards, I think it was because I didn’t keep the bar close enough, looped it, and it knocked me back so much I couldn’t save it, somewhat akin to dropping a snatch behind your head.

Jerk, stand tall, weight back on your heels dip and drive on them. This is the main thing. Focus on getting the bar up high, feet position is secondary. If the bar doesn’t go high enough no matter how fast your split sit he bar will fall down. The bar has to be over head properly, hips under the bar.

The times I get it right the Jerk is so easy. The times I don’t the Jerk is impossible.

I’ve only fallen back about once this year.

I have access to 2 gyms that are pretty local. Main club gym is about 8mins drive, another gym is about 15mins drive. All Eleiko bars hmmmmm…the longer gym has weird coloured plates but they do the gym.
