Got a stinking cold at the moment. Wasnt going to train today but went in anyway, wish I hadnt have bothered! Weights felt heavy off the floor and to squat up. Gash. Even the super light PS was crappy.

I find if I don’t train at all while sick then I end up having to do a couple or three weeks to get back to where I was so its okay even if its a “bad” day.

snatched 100kg today (2.5kg PR). the rest of the workout was sub par. out of town for the long weekend so no training for the next 3 days :frowning:

9/2/11 - about died today, lifting wise. I, again, condemn Thib to hell for this one.

A. Back squat - work up to heavy set of 3 - 275 lbs, singles of that weight every 20 sec

^^obviously my legs are weak as fuck right now, but this was done with no pain, WITH oly shoes. I can still feel the bump on my tibia so the injury is still there, but on the squats I focused on feet pointed out, push knees out, and sit into the hips more

B1. Front squat, 6x6 - 135 lbs
B2. Hang snatch jumps, 6x6 - 95 lbs
B3. Goblet squat jumps (KB), 6x6 - 20 lbs
B4. Goblet squat (KB), 6x1 min - 20 lbs

^^ this was hell, with only 30sec between exercises and ~60-90 between complexes.

did some front squats today. Slow eccentric, pause at the bottom for 3-4 seconds then stand up with 90kgs. They sure made me run out of breath. I wanted to do 5 reps, instead I was doing 3 then racking the bar for 20 seconds then did the last couple.

I’m hoping the slow eccentric will help my knees. I’ll also probably just do 1-3 reps instead of 5. It’s too hard doing 5 reps with this.

Also sat down in the hole for 5 minutes. That sure made my feet and calves, shins and hamstrings burn. Rest of the body felt pretty good.

all this old dude wants for xmas is a bodyweight snatch, got 20 lbs to go. i have never snatched first in a workout. I really enjoy FS’s and i always SN after FS’s. I suppose i ought to flip this if i really want to up the SN.

This cold is really taking my snap away, my speed on pulls is awefull at the moment! Strength seems good though. Knees are beginning to ache from 8-10FS sessions a week.

I haven’t lifted in 2 weeks except for one day last week I found some dumbbells and and leg press at a resort. I’m worried how lame I’m going to be tonight.

So I ain’t doing too much oly lifting, as i gotta focus on other training as well. Most importantly, RUCK MARCHES! The Sergeants at IBOLC put all the new Lieutenants to shame in those ruck marches.

But I got a couple of lifting updates are my strength is almost back to its highest level before I joined.

Front squats are now at 225lbs x5reps, 20days ago my best was 185lbs x5reps.
Back squat are now at 265lbs x5reps, 20+days ago my best was 225lbs x5reps.
RDls are at 275lbs x5reps.

The bumper plates got moved to a different gym that will open on Tuesday the 6th.

first time hitting 100:

ape, do you ever try turning your wrists in after the 2nd pull to keep the bar closer to the body? It might help you catch it on your heels more consistently

edit: shit, no lifting till thursday… I WANT TO LIFT.

At least the coach tells me they haven’t informed him yet about when the comp is so I guess I got more time to train :smiley:

On the session of 7/9/11 (today) I felt a twinge on my lower abs, when taking 130 out of the rack on the first rep. Felt rough, hope that I’ve upset a muscle by coughing in the night and I’m not getting a hernia. I’m going to take the next few days off and see how I get on on Sunday. 6/9/11 was a solid session. Very happy with my snatches, amazing line, and they felt effortless.

not too great of a session but I guess its to be expected from the lack of training

snatch up to 90, tried 95 twice but missed once front once back. Just need to get a couple of sessions in.

c&j more disappointing only cleaned 100 once and got dizzy

44100 front squat.

tomorrow I’ll try to get a lot of reps in with both snatch and c&j

something like 15 snatches and 10 c&js. Those should get me back in the “groove”

no squats tomorrow.
