Good!

well my shin splint (left tibia) is just from lots of squatting. That’s the only pain I get it from, is deep in the squat with my knees pushed over the toes. Just gotta work on strengthening the TA. My left foot also broke in 3 places a few years ago so now it’s flat, so the whole left shin is probably going to be prone to injuries.

how does one train the tibialis Anterior?

Flexing you ankle (pointing your toes up towards your knee as far as they’ll go).

more squats and shit. up to 40kgs, and more knee extension stuff. At least my back is starting to feel pretty solid.

My knee hurts a bit. Its frustrating me. If I do a front squat set with 40, after the 5-6th rep it starts to hurt a bit. On back squats it hurts right away with 40. I’ll keep at it for another week and if it keeps hurting, depending on how bad and at what weight X reps… I’ll go see the doc again. bleh.

coach thinks i should do some static hold with 50 kgs at quarter squat position. I’ll try them next time.

Up to 80% snatches for doubles, some jerks to 80% at 102.5 kg, front squats and clean pulls. Cable crunches, box jumps, and lots of ankle rehab. Its getting more flexible

I’ve fooled around with a bunch of stuff, but the best that works for me is heel-to-toe walking. Basically stick your left foot out like your walking, put about 80% of that weight on the heel, and while you are supporting that weight, slowly plantar-flex so your toes hit the ground. And just walk like this. It’s basically slow and heavy eccentrics for the TA.

6/24/11 - Lifting.

  1. Mid-hang clean + power jerk - heavy double - 255 lbs [vid]

  2. Power snatch - light technique work. Once the bar is past my knees, I focused on both extending the knees and bringing the hips in.

That’s pretty much it, lol. Had other stuff planned but I was wasting too much time on tech stuff.

  1. Snatch - heavy single - 110kg (see vid)

  2. C&J - heavy single - 110kg… this wasn’t heavy at all, but I needed to stop. My hips were aching really bad since I fooled around with the snatch technique so much yesterday.

Snatch - worked up to 40kg (2/3 bodyweight PR) and got it on the second attempt.

YAY!!!

I got stronger, though, because it really wasn’t pretty.

nice! vid?!?!

aw, i didn’t take my computer today so didn’t get it on vid. it was pretty ugly. think i jumped forwards a bit for the catch. didn’t stabilize it fast enough for the first bounce but managed to stand it up with a lot of roaring on the second. didn’t fold too badly standing it up, though. will try and take vids next week (which of course means i won’t get anything)!

you take your whole computer to the gym? nice

macbook. it is the only thing i have that can video record. don’t record very often because it is a bit of a pain to carry (along with my roller, ball, shoes, chalk, wrist wraps, logbook and pen, water bottle etc) and a bit of a pain to setup.

Happy with 125, ages since I’ve got this. 120 first time too (even though it was sketchy as). 100kg first attempt on Snatch is pretty rare for me on a sunday morning too! Got myself some Rehbands, and they rule the pain in my knee is gone when I wear them!

Also…how have I never seen this video before Dozois - Prévost Marilou weightlifting beijing 2008 - YouTube

Good shit Ed Ache. Sweet vid too haha, she’s hot.

Couldn’t hit the PR’s. Had a few good attempts on each, but none good enough. Today, I will front squat.

Alec

I just have to say. swimming is so awesome. it loosens up your muscles and makes your tendons, joints whatever feel great. I find it so easy and pain-free(probably the pain comes from lack of flexibility) to squat after swimming for some 30 minutes.

I so should have been foam rolling, stretching and taking ice baths, contrast showers ever since I started.
