5/23/11 - hot as balls in the gym today, workout suffered a bit, I almost felt a tad dehydrated (even when drinking SWF/Anaconda which has electrolytes/carbs)
Jerk - heavy 3 - 245 lbs; 90% of that x 3 x 2 - 225 lbs
Push Press - heavy 3 - 195 lbs; 90% x 3 x 2 - 175 lbs
Back Squat - heavy 3 - 335 lbs; 90% x 3 x 4 - 305 lbs… could have gone heavier but I was feeling sluggish at this point
Bent Row - heavy 3 - 225 lbs; 90% x 3 x 2 - 205 lbs
today’s efforts. 1) have to focus on more strict bent rows/get my torso lower. 2) Push presses are great, not only for shoulder mass and strength because it also lets my focus on the jerk dip/drive.
I figure they are intimidated by me already, alexus. and I’ll get some better push press vids next time (and heavier).
5/24/11 - lifted at the actual Oly gym today with my boiz. Will edit later when he tags me in the facebook video.
Clean - heavy 3 - 120kg (vid); 90% x 3 x 2 - 110kg
Power snatch - 75% x 2 x 3 - 80kg (too lazy to do 85kg :P)
Clean pull - heavy 3 - 130kg; 90% x 3 x 2 - 120kg
Clean DL - heavy 3 - 160kg
2 sets: no rest;
10 DB quarter squat + hammer curl + press (weird full body thing, all in one movement). tough to describe
5 box jumps (about mid-thigh)
Quite a lot of volume on this, my legs are kiling today. Going to be an effort to train! All in all its ace to be back training again especially with my new found hunger!

Right wrist still bothering me so decided to skip the Olympic lifts for today, focused on strength stuff. My back was feeling a lot better so I decided to go for a heavy single or two, I missed the second because my form was deteriorating and I want to stop doing really ugly squats. Before that, they looked pretty good.
Back Squat:
-50 kg x 3
-70 x 4
-110 x 3
-122 x 3
-142 x 1
-151 x 1, 0 (form deterioration, I dumped it)
RDL:
-70 x 5
-90 x 5
-122 x 5
-139 x 5,5,5
-181 x 1,1
High Pull of clean
80x2
110x5

Another high volume session, so glad my coach preempted my DOMS, no way I would have been able to squat! Hopefully have a good couple of sessions tomo and sunday, might be going away for a bit of half term so will miss next wednesday no doubt!
Koing,do you have anything to do with the Empire Open comps? If so will you be at the next one 9/7/11?

I have the British about a week later so I won’t be doing the Empire Open.

I have a slipped L4 mate…I’m still training on it. I went through 9months of rehab to gain my mobility back. It destroyed my mobility as well as my ability to load my back vertically.
Good luck buddy!

Koing, sorry about your disc… but it comforts me to see you training like you do with that injury, so maybe I have a solid change of getting back into it soon… seriously, the pain was so bad today that I thought I wouldn’t ever be able to deadlift/clean anything again.

Mate, thats bad. I hope it turns out to be something less serious for you. And wish you a speedy recovery.
Koing: I was debating traveling down by myself to compete in it just for some fun, was wondering if you would be around to count a couple of lifts for me etc?

Sorry mate I’ll be training for the British a week later.

The disc is just f0cked like that. I’m not sure how badly it is now or what not? But it was 6yrs ago back in 2005-2006.
Things can look very dark as they were for me. I just felt so bad not being able to train properly :(. All I could do was pull ups and nothing else.
I felt like I would NEVER lift again it was that bad for me. The sudden drop on mobility was heart breaking. I couldn’t touch the floor, I was no where near. I was about a foot off the floor and this is from me being able to do palms flush without warming up.
Just do your rehab and do what you need to do. I saw a chiro (yeah I was DESPERATE) and he understood weightlifting and helped me get my mobility back but I wasn’t able to lift yet. I saw an osteopath and he was sh!t…ditched him after 6 sessions. I saw the physio who was sh!t also. Giving me some bullshit about me not activating my tva or some BS. I ditched her. But I had a miracle weekend where the pain died down a lot for no reason. Then I started to build my lifts up 5k a week and I wasn’t able to squat.
I hit 105/126 in my first comp, missed 110 and 130 Jerk.
Chin up mate, it’s going to be getting you down but you got to stay positive.
thanks Koing… some good news today though. I slept fine and haven’t felt any pain today, so it can’t be anything too serious. I can still feel that something is ‘off’ in my lumbar spine, but I’m just happy I’m not in the pain I was. It sounds like you had it a lot worse, so it’s nice to see you lifting big numbers.
