I’ve started using a hook grip to help with my grip issues. I had never done a hook grip before ever, but I’m starting to adjust to the awkward feeling of it. The biggest issue now is that I broke my right thumb a couple years ago and it never really healed properly, so it’s not really happy about all this pressure I’m now putting on it. Hopefully it adjusts soon.

Also been running Smolov Jr. since Sunday. I’ve never done a squat program written by someone other than myself before lol. I’m hoping this little mini cycle pushes me over the 400 hundred lb barrier. The first 3 workouts have been pretty easy. Tomorrow is 10x3 at 152kg. Wish me luck.

I had great results with Smolov Jr. I too had never done something like it. Good luck.

was sick the past week. up until this year i got sick once… MAYBE twice a year… this year its been 4? 5? times now? I’m pretty sure its due to the training.

today snatched up to 2x80. 85 just wouldn’t happen dunno why…

c&jed up to 105. 3x110 attempts same stuff as when i maxed out. Pretty pleased with it though

did some extra jerks up to 105. missed the 105. too tired

knee hurting quite a bit now even though it didnt hurt too much during training. I think I’m gonna get an MRI and figure out what the hell it is for sure…

Uncle was immense. The training was very intense and a lot of fun. He definitely gets the best out of you when your smashed to pieces from training. He is very good at picking weights after watching you lift and do your attempts.

Clean deadlift - 90% of last week x 4 - 295 lbs

3 sets: 1 min rest;
70m High handle prowler push, + 50 lbs

Ya that’s part of the reason I decided to try it, I saw your max vid haha. I had been contemplating full on Smolov for a while, but couldn’t get myself to give up deadlifting for that long.

I crushed my 10x3 squats today. Also had a pretty damn good snatch session. Hit 95kg again. Damn near snatched 97 on my very first go. Got it over my head and just lost it behind me. Then I got greedy and tried 100 and failed pretty miserably haha.

knee is hurting really bad today, never hurt this much. I’m starting to be at a loss as to what to do… It starts hurting if i bend it more than 30 degrees. I’m gonna limp around now :smiley: I’m gonna try stopping snatching and clean and jerks or maybe just doing very light stuff to improve technique and doing just squats. it seemed like they didn’t make it too much worse.

just go to a physical therapist or something…

Same reasons here actually for not doing the full program. Its too long to JUST squat, because getting into some of those weeks anything else would just be overtraining.

Sunday - Press, Snatch, Goodmorning, Situps
Was going to do the press, squat, goodmorning, situp workout but I wanted to rest my back a bit more, so no squats, front squats, or cleans. Its not like I can’t do this, just I feel like I should stick to the schedule. Though of course, I made it in the first place so I can do what I like, just gotta be consistent.

Press:
This was feeling really weak today, I cut it short. I’ve been doing a lot of lifting around the house.

just like the snatch my clean from the hang is pretty good(at least it feels that way) but it gets messed up from the floor. Gonna try to figure it out.

i also decided i’ll stretch for an hour every day. should help with the injuries and it will be nice to finally have the flexibility to sit in the starting position with a tight back easily.

Been lazy and haven’t posted workouts in a few days. Only two notable lifts, squatted 315 (first time in several months to crack 300) and front squatted 285 (pretty sure this is a 10 lb PR, and at least 40 lbs more than I’ve hit in a long time).

Goodmornings:
Just learning how to do these, got some tips. Keep the hips stationary (as best as possible), keep the knees at the same bend, and keep the back tight. Start light.

I need to stay away from these, my lower back is rounding a lot, I don’t have the flexibility for it right now.
