Always ramp. For the 3RM in this case, I did bar, 95, 135, 165, 185, 195

Hit a deadlift PR today at 450 (205 kg).

you start with raising your hips first too much, keep them down. Also start with the bar closer to your shins.

Thanks Lordstorm. Would you suggest starting with my hips slightly higher? I think that’s the only way I can get my shins to the bar without bringing it in too close (i.e. starting over my ankle instead of farther up the foot). My hips always raise too fast…really gotta work on that.

to be honest I don’t know. My personal opinion is you should bring the bar a bit closer to your shins, it seems to be somewhat away from you.

I also don’t understand what you mean by starting over your ankle?

knee is kind of better but not much. I didn’t sleep too well the past few days. My sleep should be better though now. Let’s see how it will be on monday.

Coach McCauley told me to move the bar to being over the base of my toe when doing cleans, so I assumed it was the same in both lifts. If I bring my shins to meet the bar, I’ll be on my toes, so I’ll have to move the bar in closer when I start and it will be closer to my leg than he recommended. I’ll give it a shot tomorrow, can’t hurt to try.

Thanks! I hit 450 on yesterday! Very exciting time, though not so exciting this morning for my back haha.

snatch PR today. hit a pretty nice lift at 95kg. i think i’m good for a little bit more, but we’ll see. i’ll post the video up later or tomorrow, whenever i get a chance.

clean has been sucking something awful lately. my hands are just too beat up to grip the bar and easy lifts at like 80% are rolling in my hand. it’s really frustrating.

You need to get faster under the bar on your snatches, even when you pull enough to make the lift, the bar is smooshing you down. You want to get under faster and catch it at its apex so that it doesnt crush you. Same thing on your cleans, you need to rack that bar a lot earlier before riding it down.

ahaa I’m a pussy trying to get under cleans ever since I injured my wrist. the irony there is I probably only got hurt in the first place because I didn’t get under fast enough haha. thanks for the advice man.

Got there, felt pretty good. Weighed in at 91.7 0.1 lighter than last time. Going to be a jockey soon, I’m that light!

I was in the last group 94’s 105’s, 105+'s.

Picked up the bar and it felt nice and light. Warm ups were:

Then Clean and jerks

  2. 120x clean miss the jerk

Bommed. Was properly p1ssed off, I knew there was a possibility of this happening with the way my jerks have been recently, and I said to my coach last tuesday ‘if I cant jerk 120 I don’t deserve a total’.

Things to come away with. I Snatched 4kg more than I cleaned in October, and I got a platform PB (first of many). Three things I will be working on are 1. Jerks, 2. Strength, 3. Speed under the bar.

I’m the second to last lifter. I feel Wounded.
