SPH at UMD. It was during that weightlifting class I had last semester.

Oh, it was you who I talked to about that class. I didn’t remember about that lol.

I was like “WTF, someone else lifting in SPH that I don’t know? Must be tuesdays and thursdays”.

Makes more sense now.

Hit an ugly back squat PR tonight. It was 395 lbs (about 180kg). Missed 405 lbs (184kg), which was disappointing because I thought I was ready for it. Maybe I shouldn’t have gone for a front squat PR yesterday haha. Anyway, hit 5 doubles after with 345 lbs, which is about 156kg. I can’t really complain.

In November I hurt my wrist lifting at SPH by not getting under a clean fast enough. My elbow jammed into my thigh and my wrist took like 2 months to heal. So now I’m scared to go under cleans sometimes, go figure lol.

SPH? Meaning?

Ed Ache, good luck![/quote]

Cheers man, the way Jerks are going I may well need it!

5/9/11 - Man today was hard.

Jerk - 4RM - 225 lbs; 90% x 4 x 2 - 200 lbs… was tired as shit after this already, so my push press sucked

Push Press - 5RM - 175 lbs; 90% x 5 x 2 - 155 lbs

Back Squat - 5RM - 315 lbs; 90% x 5 x 4 - 280 lbs

Bent Row (strict) - 5RM - 205 lbs; 90% x 5 x 2 - 185 lbs

Unanchored sit-ups - 3 x max

So I feel like I should start posting my training in here. I am 21 years old and a junior studying engineering at Virginia Tech. Got into weightlifting when I started cheerleading here my freshman year. I’ve been weightlifting training for about a year now and competed once at the capital city open. Here are my numbers:

BW: 84 kg
Height: 6’00"
Snatch: 75 kg (soooo close to 80 kg)
C&J: 95 kg (cleaned 100 kg but missed the jerk)
Front Squat: 100 kg
Back Squat: 125 kg

Squating is my biggest issue obviously. Started Smolov Jr. last week, so currently on week 2. Plan on doing it for about 4 weeks. Wanted to start the full program but with my finals and everything this week I just didnt have the mental capacity for it. So here is what i did Monday 5/9:

Mon 5/9
(in lbs) (wt x reps x sets)
B Squat: 205 x 6 x 6
Power Snatch: 135 x 2 x 8
Snatch Pull: 185 x 3 x 5
Reverse Hypers + Face Pulls: 3 x 10 light

Will try to upload some videos once i figure out how it works…

Took some easy lifts today lookin for 100/120 in a meet this saturday

I was trying some pause snatches yesterday. Do these look okay? They’re fairly close to my max.

After doing those I tried my max and I thought this looked good as far as getting faster under the bar and not power snatching:

I’m still having trouble with getting under the bar though.

my lifts sucked today too!

Agree on the no A/C - it’s too early in the year for humidity - not used to it yet.

Onward and upward…

Power Clean
185 x 3 x 6

Hang Snatch Pull

back to it… sorta

managed to get a 95 equal PB snatch actually. pretty pleased with that

some low weight cleans and jerks trying out new stuff

overhead pressing a bunch with 65s.

right knee is hurting like crazy right now. But the only thing that seems to be working so far is this… working hard making it hurt then… resting till its relatively okay, then repeating the same and slowly it hurts less and less every time…

You need to lift your back more from the floor because in the pause your butt comes up and you adust your back to get in a good position. In the full lift you loop the bar because this movement is more pronounced. So keep your butt down more throughout the lift. Your start positions in both vids are different with your butt waaaaay too high in the first, the second vid is a better start (but again, the pull is off and this is why youre catching the bar on your toes and feeling wobbly).

Finals this week, haven’t been in the gym since Friday, though at least I set 2 great PRs that day. Getting in tomorrow, no access to oly lifting facilities but I will be hitting a deadlift PR or die trying.

Lordstorm, I’m sorry to hear you’re still having so much trouble with your knees. I hope your plan works. It does sound like it’s getting better with what your doing.

Good job on the PB.

Do you ramp up to these or just warm up and go for it?
