Ok, Now I'm PISSED OFF!

Okay, think about this: As the power and influence of the obese population grows, services will be strengthened to cater to their “appetite”. You want to find a place that caters to your, the fit individual, needs? Good luck. Why do you think that places like Venice, CA. have ALOT of restaurants that serve healthy food? Because there is a need there. Along with need, comes the possibility of revenue. A good reason for any type of service or restaurant to open or expand. Look at the Costcos, Wal-Marts, etc. - you see their stock climbing, right alongside that of the growing population of the morbidly obese. God, I HATE Costco. Herds and herds of pacaderms that can barely walk two Costco aisles, with their industrial push carts, brimming with crates of non-fat crackers, cookies, gallons of mayo, and stopping by EVERY sample table. Ooops, got side-tracked.

But, you get my point. We can sit here and say, "it's their perogative...their choice...." whatever. But it does affect US. Indirectly. In many ways. Cost of health care. Options. Continuing stereotyping of someone who chooses to stay fit and healthy. I could go on.

Hold on there, I LOVE Costco. I get old fashioned oatmeal, chicken breasts, salmon, cottage cheese, raw veggies, and fish oils in bulk. Dear God Patricia, it sounds like the Costcos where you live are way different than the ones here. But I hear you about Wal-Mart. I go there just to look at the mumu clad fatties as they gorge themselves in the food court before they look for the elusive XXXXXL housecoat. Lately your posts have really had a strong food bent. Pre-contest not treating you well? LOL. It’s okay, I’m sure ko can whip something up to take care of the cravings.

P.S. I’m going to a brew-pub tonight. Just an FYI :)

Patricia,

Let’s not hate Costco. After all, they got giant bags of frozen chicken breasts, salmon, tuna steaks, and fish filets that I find so convenient to use.

Anyhow – I must say that Costco does sell a lot of junk food, but that’s only cuz there’s a big demand for it. And you’re right about the demand factor being the most important part when a new business opens.

Wherever I go (I travel a lot), I notice the three things when it comes to food choices: 1. fast food; 2. fancy sit down meals that cost $$$$$$$$$ (this is when you take your managers, sr. managers, and partners so they pay for your food); 3. restaurant chains. I’ve yet to see a real “healthy” restaurant.

I may hate Costco, but it is a necessary evil. I buy my contacts, chicken, frozen vegies, coffee, oatmeal there. Yes, there is value for me. I useto get my jeans there, but they don’t have my size (1 or 2) anymore ;-( And we usually spend less than $100 there - I usually go at 8PM, right before closing so that I don’t hit the crowds. But, Demo: it’s a very surreal scene at the Costcos around here. Hmm, and I don’t think my posts have been leaning towards food…hmmm (again). My pre-contest just consists of nobeer or alcohol and no cookies or Mike-n-Ikes. So, I’m still eating plenty (and getting lean). I just have a small headache today. Anticipating seeing Blade2 tonight is all.

Have one for me at the Pub tonight!
