275x1 (PR by +17 lbs

^ this is fucking awesome, practically a 20lbs PR. you’ve been holdin back grizzly-woman.

I’m trying to find some witty way of quotting that song… “my salmon burgers bring all the girls to the yard…” but failing miserably at any kind of funny visual.

Bench day

Warm-ups: sets of 5 @ 55, 70, 85

Work Sets:
105x5
120x3
135x3 (rep PR +2, I’ve only ever benched this weight twice (both right before my last meet); singles, and grinders, both times) – and since it went so well …
135x2 (f’d with my head - was worried it was heavy so I quit at two when I could have easily done 3 again.)
135x3 (pissed off at myself for quitting at two, so I did three)
135x3 (and it went so well, I did it again)…
105x10

I am stopping on my chest, not bouncing it off at all, but it’s not the full one second pause, so starting next month I’ll be practicing all my single rep bench lifts with a one second pause. grrr… hate the pause.

Auxiliary:
Kroc Rows - 40x10, 45x10, 50x8
Sets of Fly’s super-setted with scarecrows

damn fine bench - I can only get a triple if someone unracks the bar for me. although I haven’t maxed out on my bench in a while and now you got me curious.

had to google scarecrows - good stuff, will be adding to my auxilary moves this week

Yeah, that pause on the chest bites weanies. But it’s imperative to train with it some if you compete.

Yesterday was a quick in and out arm day. 5 sets of triceps, 5 sets of biceps, shoulder pre-hap, done.

Today was Squat Day. We had about an hour and a half to get home and work out before the in-laws got into town.

Warm-ups: sets of 5 at 75, 95, 115

Work Sets:
145x5
165x3
185x1
205x1 (PR +10 lbs)
215x1 (PR +20 lbs) Happy girl…

And every one was legal. I have proof. And I’ll post a video, as soon as I can figure out how to get them off the damn camera… grrr… technology.

Then for fun I walked out 265 and did some partial squats. good times.

Then we bbq’d some burgers and had a good evening with the fam. Great end to the day, but now I’m dead tired and 5am is way to close for my liking.

SQUATZZZZZ… only one though, so technically, just Squat. But not diddly… squat… yeah, movin’ on.

215 lbs, a 20 lb PR for me. I need to get my chest up a bit more, but overall , I’m happy with it, and it felt easy on my legs.

bery nice PR’s frozen… waiting for ma vid now taps foot

I want to see how badly you can crush my ego.

But to tied you over… Legs after good squat day.

Let’s see if this works. Attempt at squat video - take 3

hell yeah that’s an awesome bench day. multiple triples at 135. hot damn!

nice squat too.

Damn! That’s beauteous. Tell me about your knee wraps . . .

Thanks. I really wanted to do 225, but didn’t want to push my luck after PRing twice. Next week is deload week and then I’m planning on 225 for my first squat workout after recovery week.

They’re knee sleeves, mostly neoprene and a little something else (so per the newest USAPL guidance from Raw Nationals, they’re now illegal for raw lifting). I purchased them at the local Fred Meyer’s. I have good real knee wraps, but I figure if I’m planning to compete raw for a few years then I should practice raw as well, so I don’t get too reliant on the knee wraps to feel comfortable with heavier weights.

That’s why I asked. I thought you competed USAPL raw. And I thought they looked illegal. I wanna buy some Tommy Kono knee sleeves, which I believe are legal in USAPL raw. I love me some knee wraps, though. And I compete geared.

Arm Day. Hubby’s outta town, so I just went in and had fun today (as opposed to following the usual bicep/tricep/repeat program).

wide grip pull downs - 5 sets of 10 reps, got up to 135lbs (which was tricky, since I had to have my legs hooked around something to pull myself down to the seat once I had a-hold of the bar.

Decline tricep presses w/ DBs - 30x10, 40x10 (then the weight was too heavy to safely maneuver my vertically challenged self up on to the decline situp bench that I was using)

Flat Decline presses w/ DBs - 40x10, 45x8 and 50x7 –

Pause for mini-rant (or not so mini):
There were these two asshats working out beside me today (doing shoulder presses with my weights, damn it). Lots of “bro’s” and ego boosting, flexing in the mirrors, talking about weights more then lifting them, and helping each other lift while saying “all you”…

I grabbed the 45ers, ‘cause the 40’s felt damn easy and I was feelin’ spunky (never gone over 40s before). Asshat #1 looked at his buddy and asked “should I use the 40’s or 50’s?”. I was feeling polite (which was a shocker all its own) so I asked if I’d taken the weights he wanted to use, and said I’d be done in just a minute so he could use them if he wanted. He guffawed at me, no joke, rolled his eyes and didn’t respond, and his buddy says “dude, you better use the 50’s. You can’t let her lift more than you. I’d never let you live that down.” hahaha… Already pissing me off.

So I do my set. I attempt to let the stupidity and rude comments go. Not feeling like matching wits with reknobs. Asshat #1 does about five reps with his 50s (which is pussy. He’s about a 220 lbs guy, and not obese.) Anyway… we both take our rest. I’m looking at the weights thinking “I wanna do 50s, but is that really smart? 'cause the 45s felt pretty good, but I don’t know if I can press up the 50s… and I don’t wanna take the guys weights if he’s about to do his set”. So I watch to see what he’s gonna grab.

Asshat #2 agrees with Asshat #1 that he better grab the 40s, get some reps in, you know, bro. (now that he’s proven his manhood by lifting 5lbs more in a shoulder press than I was flat tricep pressing…) As he’s grabbing the 40s he stops, looks at me (with an incredibly asshole-ish expression on his face) and in a really bad imitation of my voice asks, “did I take your weights?”, and they proceed to laugh like they’d made a really good joke… now, I’m really pissed. So I get up, walk past him, grab the 50s and say, “no, you didn’t” on my way back by. At which point his buddy ohh’s and laughs and they make comments about how they maybe better spot me with those big weights. So fucking pissed. Almost left the gym after I rocked that set (with those “big” weights). Then I decided they could go fuck themselves, and stayed and got a rockin’ bicep & tricep workout in. I don’t know if I’m really telling the story well, but damn, I don’t know if I’ve ever experienced anyone be quite that downright rude in a gym, ever. But the anger was sure motivating.

3 sets of DB curls, 25x10, 25x9, 27.5x6
Tricep Press downs - 40x10, 60x10, 70x10, 80x10, 90x8, 100x7, 110x8, 120x5 (Fun! I’ve never gone over 80.)
BB curls - 40x12, 50x10, 60x5

And by that time I’d worked out most of my angst. Still wanted to walk over and punch them in the face, but was more easily restraining my urges.

done. home. food.

What assholes!!

Nice legs, btw…jealous of your cuts.I’m getting there!

And great squat too of course.

That was an outstanding squat video! You must’ve been so pumped at getting such a huge PR.

I think you handled gym asshats rather well. Letting that situation motivate you was the best way to go.

my ego id is officially crushed - that was an awesome squat. and legs i would def chew on.

and as tough as this might be letting go of the assholes is prob the best thing you could have done. There are some people you can never win with. Those people have a tendancy to hit themselves against their own wall. chill out, you’ve evolved beyond them by eons and millenia. I must say I find it hard to take my own advice sometimes too.

Mmmm… Today was another goodbye party for another co-worker. I knew ahead of time, and made sure I ate a lot throughout the day to try and keep any cravings at bay while out with the group but, alas, no such luck. I gave in to the burger (no bun though) and had three onion rings (mmm… grease = yucky tummy afterwards) and a couple bites of chocolate cake (a couple being about 4ish). So I got home and wasn’t feeling so hot, considering I’d now had time to consider what I just put in my mouth. Which prompted me to actually do the squat workout I was planning, rather than crashing like I was inclined to do.

No PRs, just a good workout with about 24 warm-up reps and 9 real work reps (three work sets) of squats (2nd squat day of the week). I wore my belt for the first two work sets, and almost lost all that food (which wouldn’t necessarily have been a bad thing for my weight, I suppose). I did the last set at 185 without a belt, and it went great.

The big win of the day was doing the entire workout without knee sleeves, and not being in pain after the workout (not so far, anyways). I haven’t been able to squat or DL without knee support of some kind (without my knees fliping me the bird afterwords) for the past two+ years, since I decimated my MCL. So, although the eating was a bust, and I just did my minimum workout, it was still a win.
