Official 2020 T-ransformation Announcement Thread

I find myself skipping breakfast these days. I’m not doing IF, but I’m flirting with it. The thing that really keeps me from committing to it is that I like to train around 1030 in the morning. I also get a little paranoid about my protein intake. I’m not going catabolic or anything, but I need every bit of help I can get to grow some muscle these days. I find myself doing a half-assed approach of half IF and half protein sparing modified fasting (PSMF) where I’ll have a double protein shake for breakfast and then try to wait four hours before eating anything else.

That seems to get me through the morning but then the end of my day is like last night where I can’t satisfy my hunger and end up overeating anyway.

This book is a good read for anyone wavering

I find it much easier doing IF when i do diet. with an illustrative 1,800 calorie target 3 meals of 600 calories is just so much less satisfying than 2 meals at 900 for me, especially at dinner. Getting back from lunch a bit hungry is fine, but I hate being hungry in the evening.

I’m doing keto and IF. I started the IF when my weight loss stalled and it helped push me through the plateau. Having now researched it extensively, I’m now doing longer fasts on lifting days MWF. I fast until after my evening workout and then down a whey shake and eat two protein based meals before bed. Non-lifting days are 3 good meals and a snack

I’ve never really done a proper cut so i figured this was a good time before my upcoming cruise at the end of the month. I still have one night a week where I drink 10 light beers or so and I’m gaining muscle and losing fat. My abs are coming in better and weight has stayed the same or gone slightly up but i don’t quite have the 6 pack yet. I lost ten lbs in January. After my cruise I’m going to experiment with upping total weekly calories and switch my workout to add more volume with a push/pull/legs split.

Lol next time you plateau on your cut this would be what I look at. Good effort continuing to make progress like this though.

Haha I know man. I gotta keep the wifey entertained though. With a stressful kid-filled household we like to unwind once a week or so and get some respite.

The funny thing is, without fail I always weigh less the morning after drinking than the morning before, probably due to dehydration though.

Tell me about it bro. I’m with you. Dos Equis is my medicine. Of course it was the first thing to “go” for my cut, but my wife was like, “Baby, you need a beer. Being a good dad is a lot more important than having abs.”
Granted I don’t drink 10 of anything, but it’s not light beer either.

I similarly have an upcoming vacation I want to look good for - beach trip first week of March.

I usually make the first half of it early in the week, and return towards the end. This week I decided to come home early, so I wasn’t gone for 4 days.

Wife texted today saying she was stressed out (she’s dieting too) and wants to relax with wine and snacks tonight. I feel the same way and bought wine for her and beer for me. Will we undo a weeks worth of careful eating? Quite possibly. And it isn’t even the weekend yet, with its guaranteed binging since we’re visiting friends out of town.

I didn’t(couldn’t) wait long enough for it to cool so it kinda fell apart…

I present: The 5lb Lasagna Blob

I felt that at my current rate of progress, winning this challenge would be too easy! I thought I’d slow down to add some excitement.

My update might not mean much to y’all, but I’ve been proud of myself concerning going out to eat. Had a double date with a coworker of mine today and everything felt very smooth and natural, and I just enjoyed being in the moment with good people and my husband around me, aaaaaaaannnnd…enjoyed the food.

So I went and ran some test. There is nothing serious just some nerve got stuck. Was told to take it easy for a few weeks, eat and sleep well.
I wont be able to run and do lower body stuff for a few weeks.
Anyone can recommend an upper body split for a few weeks that will not target the lower back. Or should I go for a bro split, chest, back, legs, shoulders, arm without the leg day. Sounds like fun

Are you sure the ‘eat well’ was actually part of the recommendation and not just what you wanted to hear? Ha. I’ve always heard rest for back pain, never food.

Your husband’s pretty cool, in that he lets you double date your co-workers.

This is some reverse pschology shit where you get the rest of us to go and crave a 5 pound plate of lasagna, isn’t it? It’s working.

Why not 500, 500 and 800? And use low calorie dense food, a shit ton of vegetables and here you go. I’ve tried fasting but with an active job it is horrible.

Personal preference I guess. I’ve tried both, skipping breakfast just gives me more to use at dinner. The numbers were illustrative, id probably actually do 0, 500, 1300.

I’ve only managed to lose a paltry 2.5lbs since the start of January.

However, my waistline is down a couple of inches and my lifts have mostly gone up so I’m going to call this a wildly successful recomp and anticipate being shredded to fuck within the next few weeks. Maybe even hours.
