Since Trevor Smith was brought up I’ll go ahead and add my favorite picture of all time.

One more.

those pics of heath were of him a few weeks out from last years iron man or last years arnold i forgot which. He is much thicker in his ‘off season’.
I know many will debate over this but Trey Brewer getting soo fat in the off season didn’t do him any good. It could be that his pre contest diet coming down from 330 is what f*cked him but either way I still think he looked better when he won the excalibur. He definitely needs to go back to what he did then this next year and he will be a pro here shortly.
I am also glad that many bodybuilders aren’t getting obese in the off season anymore. For a while there it seemed like people would get rediculous and then trim down. I dont believe that anybody needs to be more than 25 or so lbs over what they plan on competing at. I believe getting too ‘fat’ in the off season leads to more muscle loss while dieting down. Its not a matter of weight so much as bf% if your climbing numbers above 20% your too fat…

I see what you’re saying, and sort of agree with you but here’s what I think is worth noting. Take Trey for example, if he were to have held that weight longer and then slowly dieted down I think he would have been much more successful.
For guys that plan on doing shows more frequently a plan like that won’t work as well as it could if you take some serious time. Maintain the big weight for as long as possible, then have a pre-contest diet, and finally the actual prep.
IMHO if he took a solid 1.5-2 years after his Excalibur showing, he would be in better shape. I guess what it comes down to is being willing to grow into the big weight and then very gradually diet down. Probably not something a guy who earns a living at this has the luxury of doing, but for someone who has the time can be very beneficial.
i hope to god the reason hes wearing that shirt is cause its the only one in the world big enough to fit him. he looks like a school of minnows. and no i probaly wouldnt say that to his face.

Bro, you ever been to the big and tall? It’s not exactly designer styles.

Trevor Smith was a bad mammajamma. I think of him as a proto-Dante.
I really wanted to find one of his training tapes but apparently they were never finished and can be had for neither love nor money. His training philosophy was sheer insanity.

His strength was just as insane as his training philosophy… Well, no suprise though, he did weigh in at 415 at his peak, after all.
I wonder what he would have competed at if he had ever got the chance to compete ?

Hmm. I’ve never seen a pic of him with his shirt off, it’s hard to judge how lean he was at 415… Certainly not overly lean, but he didn’t have a gut either.
Dunno man, 340 maybe? I don’t think it would have been all that much more than that (and it’s imo quite enough
).
I think Thib guessed somewhere between 320-340 in an older thread about him.

320, dunno, seems too low (consider Vic Richards, his off-season vs. comp weight, now substract a bit due to him holding too much water… And Trevor was a bit bigger than Vic, I believe).
The upper half of the range what is I’d guess he’d weigh in at.
Anyway… Wonder how he’d have done in PL…

Well, since Dante came up…

A stronger muscle=a bigger muscle.

Weighted hanging to widen the lats.
Dante ftw!
