I like to start with incline work, and then some sort of pre-exhaust before getting to flat or low decline pressing work. Big fan of cables for the record

THOUGHTS is planning on hitting legs (SQUATS!) if anyone wants to see how they measure up.

Curiously quiet in here, guys. (But I know Stu’s away on a very, very well-earned vacation.)
So, what’d I miss?
How’d the training and eatin’ go? More importantly… where are the pics?
I’d be down for a session somewhere. If I can throw another gym into the suggestion pool, Sparta Gym in Westbury is my main haunt. It’s pretty big, has a full Hammer Strength lineup, and is within walking distance (two or three blocks, consider it a warm-up) from the Westbury LIRR station and just a few minutes from Jericho Tpke, Old Country Rd., and the Northern State.
It’s actually the new location of the old Powerhouse Gym (same owner) that used to be back behind Roosevelt Field mall, if that rings any bells.
It wasn’t a big turnout, just me, Stu, and parsley. I ended up training legs and Stu and parsley trained chest together. There were some pretty big guys there and we ended up running into Kevin English who is about 10 weeks out right now. He’s one big guy.
The whole aura in the gym is something that you only get at serious bodybuilding gyms. They actually respect the place and take care of the equipment unlike my crappy gym where you can’t find anything where it’s supposed to be. All the memorabilia on the walls really shows how much history the gym has.
Afterwards, Stu and I met up with Cat (parsley had to head home) and we ate at the all you can eat Chinese buffet. Food was delicious and we basically all ate until it hurt.
I really enjoyed myself and am excited for future gym meet-ups. Hopefully, we can have much better turn outs.
I would have loved to make it Saturday, unfortunately I work every Saturday and it is pretty hard to get out of it. If you all can swing a Sunday session, I’d be there.
If you guys train at Bevs again before the summer is over I’ll be there…I’d go into the city as well…Jersey would be a hike.

Yeah was really awesome to get to train with Stu and pick his brain about a bunch of things. And that gym really is pretty cool, they had memorabilia from wrestlers, to football players, and of course mr olympias. I’m hoping i can get to the NJ one as well. I’m going to talk to stu about hitching a ride, are you planning to head out to that one thoughts?

Ah, bummer. But so it goes getting online folks to meet face-to-face, it’s just tough to do for so many reasons. Kudos to parsley, though, for showing up.
There’s always a next time, I guess.
Quick P.S. - Congrats on your recent show, man. You killed it, no doubt.

Pretty much all of this goes the same here. I’ve been swamped with stuff lately, but I’d make to to another. I’m Long Island-biased, but can try to make something farther out work.

My schedule is pretty open so I’d definitely head out to any future meet ups.

I’d be fine doing a Sunday session just so you can make it out. Any gyms you were interested in going to?

Thanks, Chris. Austin and Chris, I’d head back out to LI again. Bev’s was great and with a better turn out, it would be even better.

Tore them off or they exploded off?
I cant wait to train on the 23rd. We can either go to Minado’s again in Little Ferry which is about 15-20 minutes out of the way for you NY guys or Harold’s Deli about 5 min away right by the highway, where they have the 3lb sandwiches. Your choice.
Hey all, so yeah, got back from Bermuda last night (still managed to get to the gym to do legs though,… kinda empty of Sunday nights -lol).
Sooooooooooo I’m certainly all for hitting L.I. gyms (I used to train at the old Powerhouse in Westbury myself Chris!), or even on a Sunday if that works better for people.
As far as this coming Saturday (7/23), I contacted Bob Bonham, who I’ve become friendly with the last few months, and he’s going to comp anyone who shows up with me for the day, so that’s always cool As I’m planning on being on a plane the very next day, obviously I won’t be able to hit any out of the area locales for a ‘quick session’. For Parsely, or anyone else who can get to my Queens apt, I certainly don’t ever mind giving lifts, it makes the drive much more entertaining when other people actual WANT to talk about bodybuilding
I told Bob we’d get there by noon, and I figure the drive should take at least an hour and a half, so anyone in need if a ride, try to get to me (PM me for info) by 10 if you can. Anyone else, shoot for 12. Hopefully Colin will chime in here with the info on the great Brazilian BBQ place he mentioned to me!

count me in for this saturday. im about an hour and a half south so hopefully i dont hit traffic…

I think that was actually sam_sneed who shot out the Brazilian idea. If thats what you’re up for I can take a look, there are a few of them in Newark.
EDIT: I This is one I’ve actually heard a few good things about. riorodizio dot com/. Its in Newark, about 10 min from the gym and about $35 per person all you can eat grilled meat and buffet.
[quote]MAF14 wrote:

He’s not going to require a ‘daily pass’ fee
As far as where we’re gonna eat, Colin, as you know the area better than I and if you wouldn’t mind, maybe you could have a few options and we can see whose up for what. I know I’m damn flexible about where to eat, especially after a workout when I’m famished!
S
oh lol gotcha. i dont care where we eat as well

I went there a a couple months ago. It’s OK, but not the best. The Rio Rodizio on rt 22 is much, much better.
What it does having going for it is
a) A bunch of parking which is lacking in certain parts of Newark
b) It’s right on 21 so it’s the easiest Rodizio to get to.
c) It’s not that busy so there won’t be a wait.
4) As much freshly grilled meat as you can stuff your belly with. Filet mignon wrapped in bacon, flank steak, sirloin, hot roast beef, sausages, and skirt steak to name a few. Salad bar is meh.
I wish I could make it to train with you guys, but I’m trying to get down the shore every weekend the rest of the summer. The weekends are the only time I see my fiance so it’s a little tight.

I was stuck at a family function Saturday and missed this one.
