How many reps do you usually do when doing a EDT PR Zone?
I’m trying to setup a program using EDT for some exercises, and would like a rough idea of the expected volume.
Thanks…

I’m covering this exact topic for an article as we speak. Shoot for 55-65 reps per exercise/per PR Zone. Slight variations to this suggestions are OK though. The system is self-correcting over time, so if you’re high or low initially, it’ll fix itself.
Hope that helps

I’ve had and am having GREAT success with EDT.
With a front squat/chin-up combo I get around 40-45 reps. This combo is brutal. The time you need oxygen the most(after squats) is when you tighten up your core by doing chin-ups.
I’m sure Charles has a grin on his face.
On other less sadistic combos I get around 55-75 reps.
Thanks for EDT Charles.
Thanks Coach

That’s pretty accurate it really depends on the exercise DL/SQ/Bench/Chins/Hang Cleans/lower range 38-48
Charles,thoughts on a Uppper/Lower PR combo Say RDL/Bench then Chins/Zercher Sq?
Arms 55-65
Coach Staley,
In terms of upper body strength for most athletes, please rank the following 3 exercises by most bang for your buck or greatest value to least: overhead presses (military and bent press), chinups/pullups, and power curls.
I’m currently trying to up my deadlift max and my dumbell clean and press. Would you recommend high frequency for each exercise (say 2-3 times per week each) and low number of sets (5-10)?
Also, some people say that you should only deadlift once a month or so and really focus on assistant moves such as good mornings, ghraises, stiff leg deadlifts and other people say that specificity reigns king and that the best way to increase your deadlift is to do deadlifts and do them frequently. What do you recommend?
Do you still train in traditional martial arts or just Tim Larkin’s stuff?Do you do any bodyweight stuff for agility or relative strength other than pullups?
I dieting to Finnish national body fitness- bodybuilding competition (bb competition with weight-height limits). I founded, that EDT is very effective mass building, and fat burning program.
I usually do 5 reps of 75-80% 1RM of antagonist supersets, two big money exercises, and two 15-20 mins sessions.
I started EDT in next month, and lower calories too - should I cahance something?
I DO have a big grin on my face! Squat/chin combos are sadistic, and you’re pretty much hitting every muscle you have. Here’s a nice training split you can try:
A Session (Waterbury Method or 10x3 with a 5RM weight)
A-1: Front Squat
A-2: Pullup
B Session (EDT Method)
A-1: Back Squat
A-2: Chins
C Session (Waterbury Method or 10x3 with a 5RM weight)
A-1: Power Clean
A-2:Military Press
The idea is, you have 3 workouts and 2 different loading methods, resulting in 6 different workouts. You’d do a session 3 times a week, but you’d only repeat a workout once every 2 weeks.
Let me know if that looks appealing…

Here’s my EDT plan.
Day one:PR#1. Weighted Dips & Weighted chins. PR#2. Front squats & Stiff led dead lifts.
Day2: PR#1. Weighted incline push-ups & Weighted horizontal plain pull-ups using hanging chains with handles and feet elevated on a box.
PR#2. 5 point reaching lunges & Deadlifts.
I perform a band and body weight extreme training plan from JC’S. It’s total body conditioning that will kick your ass.I do this in between my two EDT workouts. By the way, I perform JC’S workout with dencity in mind. It’s the only way to train in my eyes.
Coach…
DO you plan on doing any seminars in the SF Bay Area? If so, when? I know you are out of Vegas so I’m hoping your getting ready for a road trip.
MAD Training- we actually now are outside of the Phoenix Az area and we have an awesome Day coming up out here on October 15. Chad Waterbury, Dan John, Dr. Lonnie Lowery, Dr. Eric Cobb, Josh Henkin and Charles himself will be presenting. This day will kick ass and take names. You wanna come-call me up at 1-800-519-2492 and I will explain the best way to do that. Act fast though as I am down to the wire and have very few seats. Besides, on top of a great day with the magnificent6 count on all the awesome giveaways and such as we always do - this event will rock!!-Julianne
Hello:
Charles so you would do this workout thre days a week but only once every two weeks. What would your recommend then other wise? Thanks.
The program is a 3 day a week program, but each individual workout gets repeated only once every 2 weeks.
As for what else to do, for me, I throw the discus, for you, I’m not sure!

On the arms program I got about 40 reps for bi’s and tri’s (each) in the 15 minute zone. Then in the 10 minute zone I got about 25 reps for each. I used my 7/8 rm (theoretically 80% 1RM)and tried for sets of 4’s and 3’s overall. A few singles toward the last. This volume worked well for me. My overall volume was usually around 60-65.
Best,
DH
EDT is the best, hands down.
