A couple ways to address this…
for one thing, I’m not ‘doing Nubret’s routine’. I just tried the workout because we talked about it so much. It’s not as if it was going to make me weaker, lol.
But that being said, many powerlifters work in this sort of rep range for a few months out of the year. It’s widely acceptable to spend as much as 3 months or so with more of a focus on bodybuilding/hypertrophy. At the end of the day, hypertrophy truly is king. It will make you stronger. So there’s certainly no harm in it, and likely plenty of benefit.
Ed Coan is a good example of this. He did most of his squatting in the 10-20 rep range, except when he was close to a meet.
There are honestly way more similarities between various training disciplines than there are differences, despite what the internet would have you believe.
