I had my eyes on becoming a leg extensions specialist. Maybe I’ll start a new fed for that.

Ah, you need to join the fed my training partner and I are setting up. We do glute/ham raises instead of squats, reverse band board presses, and some kind of row.
It’s the future. Sorry to hear about your back mate. The complete absence of strength is a familiar feeling for me right now too…

If you lifted in pounds, your weights would be so much higher. It’s broscience.
HTS Week 13 Day 2
August 4th
Paused bench press 275x3x3
2-board bench press w/u to 335x3
OH Press 115x3x10
Chest-supported rows 3x10
Rope Pushdowns 5x15
Hammer curls 3x8
Summary: Not a bad pressing day. Training partner screwed up with a misload on one of my sets on the 2-board and it messed up my progression plans. I settled at 335 for a triple and it was moderately difficult. Can’t quite recall what my PR triple is with this lift, but it’s probably not that much higher. The assistance work went fine, got a good pump in the gunz with the pushdowns and curls.
time to become a bench only guy ![]()
sorry to see your bad luck has returned! heal up quick dude!
HTS Week 13 Day 3
August 5th
Morning BW = 205.2
Front squats 185x3x1,2,3 (ladder sets)
Deadlift w/u to 445x3;365x5x3
Shrugs 315x2x20
Pulldowns 3x12
I,T,Ys 3x10
Leg curls 4x20
Summary: I departed from the program a bit today (shhh, don’t tell) and tried a 3 ladder sets on front squats, mainly as a way to work a squat-like pattern yet keep it fairly light to test out the hip. So far so good at least on these. Pulls felt good and it has been a while since I’ve pulled this heavy from the floor in several weeks. I could have gone maybe 10 pounds heavier and still not grind it, but figured this was enough and let the down set volume do the work. I got a couple of things backwards with yesterday’s session so I had to do those damn I,T,Ys today. Arggggghhh.
You sir, are not welcome to pull at the Y. Nice work on the deads, they looked solid and fast.
Nice work- I’d like to buy that deadlift form from you or at least rent it for a couple of sessions to see what I could do.

Thanks. Top bidder, and I am very expensive, lol.
Great work. And all the sets were double overhand. Grip of steel.

Thanks, although I will say that I was using a TX DL bar. Makes it a little easier on the mitts.
HTS Week 14 Day 1
August 8th
Squat 245x2x3
Bench press 225x2x3
Deadlift 315x4x1
Hammer curls 2x10
Pushdowns 2x10
Lifted really heavy tonight, lol. Just basically a feeder workout because Adam wants me to test my lifts this weekend to set a new starting point. My squat will probably not be much to write home about when I test it, but I’m OK with that as I’ll have the opportunity to rebuild it over these next few months. I had originally planned on doing a meet on October 27th, but plans change and instead I’ll be lifting at one close by in Maryland on December 8th.
I love test day, good luck with that. My next meet will likely be around the same time, first weekend in December I think.
December is plenty of time to get dialed in. Steady progress all the way.
‘Test’ day
August 11th
Squat 385
Bench 335
Deadlift 475
Summary: Not great numbers, but none of them were all-out lifts. As I said in a previous post, the low squat # was wholly expected given the issue I’ve been having with my piriformis the past several weeks. Strength just isn’t there yet. Bench was meh because I had a freaking cramp in my hip right after I started to press it off my chest. Also, I lifted at my training partner’s house and he has a brand new Texas power bar; that thing was fucking killing my hands with the razor sharp knurling. Every weight over 275 made my hands feel miserable - like I was being stabbed with steak knives, lol. The deadlift was OK given that I don’t typically pull very well on test days.
HTS Week 14 Day 1
August 15th
Squat 275x3x1/2/3 (18 reps total)
CG bench press 225x1/2/3;245x1/2/3;255x1/2/3
DB curls 3x10
Rope pushdowns 3x10
Summary: Just doing my own thing this week before I get back to preparatory work for the meet. I decided to some ladder sets with the squat and close-grip bench. These are harder than you’d think, although we did do them with very little rest between the 1s and 2s–basically a “you go, I go” pace. I’ll do these again on Saturday and maybe Sunday, too.
All things considered those are excellent numbers, was this part of the HTS program, the test day?
Meet is in December? Gives you enough time to get as healthy as possible and Im sure those numbers will be dwarfed.
The test day was a part of the deal. Adam just wanted to get a gauge for what sort of numbers I should be working with going forward. What I did last night was of my own creative mind, but after the meet in December is over and done with ladders will likely be something I incorporate regularly into training. Gives you a chance to work a particular lift with submax loads for a deceptively high # of reps.
HTS Week 14 Day 2
August 18th
SSB squats 225x3x1/2/3
OH press 95x5,115x5,135x5
Summary: Short and sweet because that’s all I had time to pull off. The SSB is just such a bitch for me and I should probably make greater use of it than I do, which is exactly what I think Adam has planned.
