Are you guys ever not motivated to go to the gym?
Do you guys sometimes do something else instead like play golf or chill out when you dont feel like going to the gym? Is it ok to do this sometimes? or go to the pool

When I’m feeling lazy, I go read one of Shugart’s blogs. So far, it’s always worked.
I used to get this (especially in the Canadian winter, brrr). I got around it by posting pics of my goal physique near where I woke up. It worked well.

Depends on what you want brother. If it’s half assed results go golf. If it’s breaking PR’s, adding pounds of muscle and dropping pounds of fat to use your name Hit The Gym!!!

Just hit the gym.
Shit, dedicated got it first.
those are the days when “Spike” is a neccessity, changes your attitude 180
Sometimes I feel like this. Then I go to the gym anyways.

Yeah, that one was just too easy given his name.

i go with a buddy, that way we both keep each other on track. everyone has had days that they dont feel like going, but once you get there, you get the pump, and it makes you feel like a beast.
Think of it like work. You go whether or not you feel like it. Once you get inside the gym, you’ll be OK. Just get to the gym.
at times, yes. if this is happening often, you need to change your training program
Not motivated?
I have to force myself to take a day off.
Set some concrete short and long-term goals for yourself and commit. Pretty soon that will be all the motivation you need.
I have this issue now. Though I have a lot on my plate right now too with a move and other work re-lated stuff. Though I forced myself to get to the gym the other day and found it very hard to leave.
I think sometimes the hardest part is just getting there/getting started. Once, I finally get there and start working out the motivation just starts to come naturally.
To answer the question “Is it OK to do this sometimes?” – yes. But you have to be aware of what your body is telling you. Its only sometimes that the lack of motivation is due to needing the extra rest.

I sometimes find this to be the case as well. A few times I’ve been tired or just not in the mood to workout but once I’m warming up and getting into it, the motivation just comes and I have no problem working out.
Everyone has experienced this. This could be away of your body telling you it needs the day off but do not get stuck in pattern of missing workouts left and right because all of a sudden you wont be going at all.
I luckily work at a gym so I can go in early or stay after to get my workout in. Getting there tends to be the biggest problem, stop reading this, grab your bag and go!

thats what i did, and man did i have a good workout.
gotta lift more weight, good form…
I teach martial arts and get this a lot from the 10-16 year olds. But if they can push themselves to go, they usually feel good afterwards. If they start skipping practice, you can bet quite a bit of money that pretty soon, they won’t be coming at all anymore.
So, if you don’t feel like it, do whatever it takes and drag yourself to the gym. Usually you’ll feel a heck of a lot better. If you still feel crappy after the workout, then recheck your schedule and think about maybe taking a back-off week, as you might be overtraining.
Just look at yourself in the mirror, satisfied…no then get your ass up, that’s what keeps me goin.
