Not Motivated To Go To The Gym?

This is when it’s most important. I think getting to the gym should just be something you do, just part of your routine, without question.

I also find this next quote motivational:
Andrew Carnegie:
People who are unable to motivate themselves must be content with mediocrity, no matter how impressive their other talents.
Sorry for the hijack but what about when you’re sick? Go and get some benefit or skip it until you’re back to 100%?

this might sound a little sick…but when im not feeling motivated i go to the gym, put on my headphones on real loud, find a corner of the gym or a wall to crouch down at and think of stuff that REALLY REALLY pisses me off. i do this for a good ten to fifteen minutes. i think of an ex that fucked me over (and then seeing her reaction when she sees how motivated i have been and the progress i have made to my body), or someone trying to hurt my family (and me being there and strong enough to help them). i do this until im so pissed off that i need to lift or else im going to snap.

just a suggestion,

ive never felt that way. i love working out

Just watch Rocky IV.

When im feeling shitty, i try to force myself to goto the gym. Even if I just walk around and barely lift anything, its still better than riding the couch.

I just read through all the shiz here on T-Nation every night before bed…that usually gets me pretty stoked to go back the next day and throw some weight around.

If that doesn’t work then you may be in need of R&R take a week off and use the time to read through here and find a new workout that will have you itchin’ to get back. Every time I’m not in the gym I feel like I’m playing hooky or something and then guilt will usually prevent me from getting too lazy.

I’ve found the routines are like new toys…they fun for a little while but over time you get bored and tired of them…so then you find a new toy to amuse you. But what works for me may not work for you…all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

The watch tells me when to eat and the calendar tells me when to train. Just follow the schedule, get a little craziiee. Its not complicated.

Pop in Pumping Iron and watch for about ten minutes.
