Not as Fat Guy in a Little Coat

Great work, as always. Thanks for all the advice, inspiration and motivation this year.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Great new avatar! Beautiful and cute -congrats! …not to mention the perfect squat form.

Thanks for all the great workout info you’ve presented this past year, Mr. Meat. Happy Holidays.

A heart felt Thank You, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my friends here in the old folks home. Here’s too many, many more for all of us and our families.

so… had to train two days in a row this week. i hate doing that but 'tis the season. I’m going to stick with deficit sumo pulls against bands until i reach 600lbs. when i get there i’ll test my pull from the floor. this is by far my favorite deadlift variation. it does it all. it works your starting power by beginning from a deficit and then it also overloads the lockout with the bands… best of both worlds all in one really hard variation. i have a vid from my working set. the set was slow but definitely a good starting point. i’m really working on sitting back and starting the pull from the hips and then forcing them forward. i don’t feel any stress in my lower back at all.

deficit pulls against bands
135x4
225x2
315x2
405x2
495x2
525x1

front squats off pins
0x6
135x4
225x2
315x1
405x1
455x1 +45lb PR- i was very happy with this lift but pissed at myself for dropping the bar on the pins. during the setup i take in my breath and then hold it throughout the lift. this set took much longer to setup and perform. i ran out of air at lockout and started to blackout. i’ve gotten really good at managing blackouts over the years. i don’t freak out and can usually recover quickly without fully passing out. that’s why i held the lockout so long. unfortunately i wasn’t fully recovered and as i started to decend the room started spinning and i lost my balance and the bar slipped. i would have been really pissed if i had bent one of our good bars.

finished up with some RE work

no hands front squats- puased

135x20x2

the family and i will be heading out of town tomorrow. the plan is to just do some high rep shit over two training sessions leading into the new year. We will be back in the gym on the 4th. we will do some full ROM benching then and then hit the bench meet that coming Saturday.

nice fuggin work buddy. I really like that set up for the pulls, is that a jump stretch platform, or how do you have that rigged? That is my biggest challenge with pulling at the commercial place. Happy holidays, and try not to dream of spooning me…

Awesome PR Meat. 45 lbs at your level is hiyooooj!

Great lifting man!!!

What a beautiful daughter you have (Fisher too). You’ll have to stay strong to scare the boys that come around in 15 years. Have a great Christmas.

It is super helpful for me to watch your sumo deadlift videos. Thanks! Have a great holiday.

i built that platform. it’s a 2x4 frame that’s 4’ x 8’. the base is reinforced with 2x8’s and a sheet of 3/4" plywood with 2" thick rubber 2’ x 2 ’ mats. i put eye bolts on each side to attach the bands to. it’s a really good setup.

try not too??? i can’t help myself.

thankt Tony. i wanted to end the year with a big lift. i actually attempted this last week but only broke it about 4 inches off the pins. the only problem now is that i have to move up from here. if i was smart i would have gone for a smaller PR to keep the PR train roll’n.

Merry Christmas Meat. Thanks for you advice to everyone. May you set a PR in presents!

Meat: heres a question about zerchers since you are such an advocate for them: I squat narrow, deadlift conventional and was looking to add box zerchers as a supplement after deads, do you reccomend close stance, wide stance (i do some wide stance squatting from time to time) and would you reccomend going deep, just parralell, little above? looking to mostly help the dl and squat can come second thanks
