*Not Another* V-Diet Blog

bitenose-
I am also strongly contemplating a respite from protein powder when this is over…I’m thinking a month or so of the get shredded diet (all whole food, lean protein, vegetables, mix of fats). However, Shugart recommends a transition back to solid food, in which you still have a couple shakes a day. Thoughts? Do we dare defy him?

Yes, I think what’s most important in the transition is the macronutrient portion… Maybe I’ll do a couple shakes to finish out my supply… but I WILL Definitely take some time off of protein powder and supplement it with lean meats.

Going back to solid foods won’t really be a problem, but slowly building the carbs and total calories back to a nominal level is, I think, what is most important for the transition.

Haven’t researched the specifics of the “Get Shredded” diet, but I like the idea of it from what I hear.

Day 20: February 8th

I’m happy with how the workout went, intensity was up there… For some reason, squats were through the roof today… So was my dumbell incline press and military press was pretty good, was just repping it out at 165… Progress shots are coming in 2 days! Hope I’m lookin’ better, cuz I’ve been working my butt off… Jumping on the scale ocassionally and looking in the mirror i’m not seeing a whole lot of difference this week…

Has anyone ever noticed that your sense of smell is extremely keen when you’re on a cut? I’ve been known to have a very weak sense of smell, typically I can only pick up gasoline, ketones, and very strong odors… I’m a pretty sloppy chemist and I had an accident one time, spilt high molarity perchloric acid all over the floor a few years ago… When I bent down to clean up some of the spill I was almost overcome by the smell of the acid. Because acids like that have very low vapor pressures, the concentration in the air near the floor was extremely strong… I was almost knocked out by it. I noticed that from that point onward my sense of smell was even worse. Also, my addiction to spicy foods probably helps deaden my olfactory cells and taste buds. No matter though…

In answer to the smell thing:

Yes. Every time i “diet”…

I’ve never seen any data on this subject, but I believe it’s because you are in survival/kill mode(from a caveman perspective). you must smell food to find it, hunt it, and kill it.

You might find your other senses are slightly elevated too. I like that feeling of all around “sharpness”. I look forward to cutting season, for me, it begins mid-March.

two things:

  1. on what planet do you guys play soccer/squash in a low-intensity, non taxing manner? Am I over-exerting myself? because both of these games, even casually seem extremely demanding to me…

  2. to the people asking for videos…are you serious? what is so lacking in your life that you need someone whom you only know of DIGITALLY to prove themselves to you? what will you gain? what videos of yourself are you going to post in exchange so I can get MY rocks off? I just don’t get it sometimes.

PS. bitenose: good work. good luck.

Thanks for the compliment Xtolgax… Took some update pictures but my USB cable isn’t working. I’ll have to upload my pics from work.

Day 21

Boring day. I have a lot of work I need to get done. Also have a job interview next week. Did my cardio early this morning.

Day 22 & 23: February 10th & 11th

Day 22:

Didn’t want to make a pointless update yesterday. Nothing to report, spent most of the day with Shannon. For my solid meal I had about 8oz of Porterhouse steak and some port-wine cheese with Stoned Wheat thins. Was really good… but there is leftover steak, so i’m gonna freeze it til im done with the diet!

Day 23:

Going to lift today, will report back with it later… Gotta go shopping to get some khaki pants. I have a job interview on Thursday, really serious interview and the job offer is going to be stellar, so i need to make sure i look and feel my best.

Going to the gym today.

Really depends on how you’re playing the game. I’d argue that the sign of a really good racquetball, squash, and indoor soccer player is his ability to read where the ball is going and exert minimal effort and try to get his opponent to exert a maximal effort. But everyone has a different play-style… I just don’t see the point in exerting more effort than is necessary.
