Norway Shooting/Bombing

It seems he was arrested at the island without giving any troubles. I guess shooting at people who can shoot back is not so “cool”.
i shouldn’t have but i lol’d a little at your comment.

This is terrible. Condolences to the families and friends who lost someone.

I don’t remember who mentioned it before, but I too, hope he experiences a hell darker than he could ever imagine for his remaining days.
The sad thing is he any punishment he gets will probably make his actions, to himself, right and the punishments just something he was willing to brave for what he thought was right.

The incident in Norway is quite delicate/touchy/etc. though.

I’m not surprised about Amy Winehouse.
not sure if anyone cares about her at the moment, these kids were shoot without mercy and the 7 dead from the bombs, whereas she probably OD.

Does anyone know where he was arrested? did he get off the island or what?
a SWAT team came in and he surrendered to them.

That’s unusual - shooters usually end up killing themselves.
This is a huge tragedy but unfortunately, over here in the UK, Amy Winehouse’s demise will push it off the front page in most of the newspapers.

Why is this thread turning into: the media will blame steroids and bodybuilding for this Herp Derp? That hasn’t been brought up in the news.
Preemptive strike.

How can you deny it!?

That would be absolutely fucking retarded. No one would even SUGGEST that anabolic steroids somehow made a man plan this for years and then execute that plan in such a horrendous and cold hearted way.

The guy isn’t even remotely muscular looking, how would steroids even enter into it.

Your post may be the dumbest I have ever read on T-Nation. Congratulations.

Such a horrible tragedy. I can’t believe how many people care more about Amy fucking Winehouse. What a twisted world…

“I’ll bet that more people care about Amy Winehouse OD’ing than the 85 people that got killed in Norway, and that the media finds some way to switch shit around so that they make the altercation out as a corroboration for MORE gun control. In other news, iced tea is thoroughly mediocre. :3”

That was a Facebook status that I posted. Normally something like that would get attention (likes, comments etc…FB vanity maybe? lol), but the fact that it didn’t speaks volumes about people’s apathy IMO.

I’m pretty sure that he was being facetious.

x3. Holy shit,I was just floored by the people talking about Amy Winehouse death and not even being aware that the biggest mass murder in Scandinavian history took place a mere 24 hours ago. My God,the generation I grew up with are fucking stupid.

The planning that must have gone into this… the guy even registered as a farmer just so he could buy fertilizer legally. That’s most likely how he made the bomb.
Correct. And you can’t detonate ammonium nitrate with any size blasting cap/detonator. You need what’s called a ‘booster charge’. Basically at least 5% by weight of high explosive that CAN be detonated with a blasting cap/detonator. AN also absorbs water from the air and fertiliser AN pellets need to be powderised to ensure that the booster charge will detonate it. Fuel oil or diesel gasoline are usually used to make it more sensitive. This guy would’ve had to have had access to high explosive charges or he would’ve have to have made high explosives which requires a source of red fuming nitric acid(controlled substance but can be made). All this stuff is in the public domain BTW.

I have been reading more about the guy. He’s a mad genius.

He lifted weights and had a tight diet so he would be in perfect shape for his “operations”. I’m sure he trained shooting often to prepare for this. In the “screw racism” thread, someone said he had never met an intelligent racist. Here you have one.

A very scary person, but no more.

what links are you reading?

Excerpts from his manifesto.

I guess it’s like reading Mein Kampf.

Google “Anders Behring Breivik manifesto” and you’ll find many links to it.

Being from Norway and knowing people who were on the island, I’ve followed what has happened with disgust since the first reports of the bomb in Oslo.

First, because people were screaming about a muslim attack without any evidence pointing to that, second when, not long after the bombing, shots were bein fired at Utøya island where 700 youths were gathered. Third, when the police estimated that there were ‘at least 4 dead’ although it had been confirmed the gunman had a scoped AR and a Glock. Simple mathematics drew a much grimmer reality than their small estimates. The island is small, with the only route of escape being jumping into the water - sitting ducks.

It was politically motivated, the manifesto he sent to a Finnsih politician and which is now circulating the net goes into great detail about how one man can prepare to take on the powers that be, all the way from building armour that is more durable than normal kevlar bodyarmour to diet, training, supplementation, and yes, steroids. The headlines are mentioning that now.

The background and justification of his actions is that he feels something needed to be done by the increasing islamification of the world - and attacking a rather liberal political party’s youths fit the bill for him.

As for punishment, he’ll get 21 years of prison, the most severe punishment the Norwegian judicial sysmtem allows for. He may get custody after that to protect him from reprocussions.

Bear in mind, a Norwegian prison is more like a hotel, with tv in the rooms, computer access, frequent recreational activities and excursions, and the best medical and psychiatric care. The tragedy is, as much as this man has already cost society, he will continue to cost more than what all the family members of the massacred combined will get in help for the rest of their lives. And they will have to pay for his protection, food and shelter.

95 dead and 97 wounded so far.

I’m going to say that this guy is going to become a cult object for many.

Probably, yeah. This is probably the only place in the world where you can do something like that and get away with prison time- the police didn’t shoot him when he surrendered either. He’ll be able to sit snug and communicate with his groupies through people smuggling phones up their asses or word of mouth to other prisoners who have internet access, and worst case tell others, and through his manifesto, to do similar attacks. Shows how scary one man can be when he’s somewhat intelligent, has money and is in the middle of a peaceful, free society.

Also, no formal training other than obligatory military service - but he made allot of money during his studies and so was able to spend allot of time training for this.

Maybe now Norway will change some laws. It makes sense though, you were not prepared for this.

I’m half Norwegian and I can really see how this is very, very shocking.

"Q: Military experience?

A: None. I avoided the mandatory draft service when I was 18 because I didn?t feel any loyalty to the ruling political parties. I understood from early age that dying for your country would involve fighting your own leading political parties, not serving them."

Since we talked about this earlier.

EDIT :

“. I see MW2 more as a part of my training-simulation than anything else. Iâ??ve still learned to love it though and especially the multiplayer part is amazing. You can more or less completely simulate actual operations.”

So I was not far away with my question earlier on. He did use it to “train”.

Probably won’t. The Prime Minister, Jens Stoltenberg was quick to address the media and say that what we needed was to strengthen the democracy in the face of events such as this, and make what we have better.

As a sidenote, a poll on Facebook, where people are asked if the laws should be changed so this guy can be executed has 13.000 for…45.000 against.
