I’m being general here. Nootropics, research chems, peptides.
Just looking for something new to try.
What were the effects? Negatives?
Mainly looking at : Mood, gym improvement, increase sexuality/libido

I’ve experimented with phenibut in both readily available forms and I can say it certainly works.
Felt inexplicably happy and uplifted after about 5-7 hours since administration and on an experimental high dose I felt drunk minus the incoherence. Definitely a general mood lifter. Not a crutch for depression or SEVERE anxiety, though.
Also worth mentioning, I have never used phenibut more often than once every 3 weeks, nor have I ever used it consistently over time. Just experimentation.
Are you still functional? Able to work? Workout?
Thanks for the input. I’m hoping some people that have used some mental clarity/Stims will chime in.
Yup. Still able to train on it. Didn’t have any issues.
I am for better living through chemistry, but watch long term use. The long term effects are unknown and potentially dangerous. You’re messing with your squash. Protect it, you only get one brain in life.
Braintropic is a great site for information on these.
Also use the search function and look for the ‘brain function boosters’ threads, they had a lot of good info in them if you don’t mind sifting through.
I’ve personally used:
vinpocetine quite a bit off and on over the years - no ‘noticeable’ effect that I could point to
Alpha-GPC- didn’t notice a cognitive difference, but saw the physical boost (small but noticeable boost to strength in the gym)
centrophenoxine - did a month long high-dose run of this, supposed to ‘clean out’ the brain (removes some of the byproducts of aging allegedly) - felt fairly fuzzy while on it toward the end, hard to say if there was a real difference before v. after
aniracetam (I think) - this one was awesome. I used it hoping for a little mental performance boost while going through a tough military course. Didn’t notice much of a boost while there, but for a couple years afterward I could recite the schedule from rote.
oxiracetam - didn’t notice as much from this one
Huperzine A - choline source, just gave me headaches
Think that’s it…
My wife is studying for her firefighter I exam currently, using noopept, vinpo, and (I think) theanine with caffeine (coffee). She feels like the noopept is definitely helping with memory recall. We’ll see next week when she takes her exam.
I am going back to school this fall, BIO I, CHEM I, and A&P I. Planning on using the Student Stack and Eidetic Stack from Braintropic.
I say stick with the tried and true. Either Ritalin, Ativan (provided you don’t actually have ADHD) and Nuvigil\ Provigil.
I don’t trust a lot of nootropics. I seen people take them and I cannot discern they are any better than placebo.
They aren’t curing cancer, or finding how to read the error logs in .net 4.5, soooo what helps give me laser concentration is what I trust, especially since the ADA has ruled it will not eat your brain.
I would rather take LSD.
Yeah nootropics are likely all hype. I used piracetam and aniracetam with choline. The negative side effects were not worth any sort of benefit. It was interesting how it helped me recall memories I haven’t thought about in years some of which I had no idea I had. But the headaches and anxiety where not worth it for me.
My advice is micro dosing LSD or psilocybin. And if you want a real Mental PED just get some adderall like everybody else.
Thanks for replies. This was mainly to see if anyone had had good experiences with the variety of stuff out there. Sounds like the “nootropic” stuff is mainly junk, or even dangerous.
Although I agree with some of the suggestions, I was looking for more legal options.
I know those things work, searching for new alternatives.
Don’t micro dose psilocybin. That’s a waste, have a nice trip…
I am not ready to render a judgement about them. They just give me pause. I don’t enough about them to say they are good or bad. The problem is that if they are bad, you are messing with your brain and the effects may not show up for years and then you’re in a ward somewhere.
I would say let those who want to be a lab rat, be one. I don’t mind, but I have limits.
Every heard of the ‘Mad Hatter’? Of course you have. Everybody has. The story has an origin. Apparently, in hat making factories, they used just a little mercury. The exposure was slight but it was daily. And people went crazy from the mercury exposure. Like bat-shit. That’s where the ‘Mad Hatter’ and all those old timey sayings, about crazy hat makers came from.
