I can run to the refrigerator in under 3 seconds, however far that is.
best time was 6:19

I ran a mile in 8 minutes. I barely made it to my truck to drink my shake. I swore never to do it again. Elliptical all the way baby! When I was a tubby I ran a mile in 17 so I guess its an improvement.
Wouldn’t none runners not know their mile times? I don’t run any more but I am fast as hell for my lack of training at 6min.
Edit, i run about 6-7 times a year during summer. If a self declared runner told me they did 6 minute miles, I would suggest they improve their training.
Are these all treadmill times?
I don’t know my mile time, but I ran a 19:02 3 mile course about 2 weeks ago.

Is a treadmill that much easier to run on than a track?
I stay in good enough shape year round to run a sub 6, usually no faster than 5:55. I don’t try to go any faster than that, I just think anybody that wants to say that they are in decent shape should be able to run a sub 6 mile.
As somebody else said, I wouldn’t consider that a very good time for somebody that calls themselves a runner.
I’d say low six’s high five’s.
In highschool I ran a 5:10

No, mines a dirt track.

I always thought so but I wonder what others experience.
Im a sprinter, anything over a 400 i consider long distance.
But i can cover a mile in about 6:00 or faster.

My personal best was around 5:50 a few years back. Right now I figure I’d cover a mile in around 7 minutes, less than that if I felt like wretching for awhile.

Much, much easier. When I run on a treadmill, I put the incline at 2% to make up for the difference.
Treadmills are much easier because they actually pull you along to a certain extent, or so I hear?
My mile time with a pulled muscle and two shin splints is 7 minutes and 16 seconds. So healthy I’m guessing around 6 minutes?

No. as you can see there are LOTS of guys here that have run recently or can remember the last time they did but not as a habit, meaning it’s not really a part of thier usual training.
For instance, I know how much I power snatch but I’m not an olympic lifter and don’t normally train my power snatch very often, ya know?
I just didn’t want habitual runners posting times because they specifically train for a low time and that’s not the type of info I was looking for.
Wow this thread makes me feel slow. I think around 7:20 is the best I’ve ever run it…and I felt like I was going to die.

How in tarnation does it pull you along when the motion of the belt is to pull you off the machine?
No, the reason why treadmills are slightly easier is because most people don’t vary the incline/decline and there’s no wind resistance.

That and the fact that you are NOT actually moving your mass across a surface so there is no energy expended creating and maintaining forward motion.
