Just saw an ad on TV for Quaker Granola Chews or something like that. The ad showed two kids getting into an elevator with a bunch of people…one kid looks up and says out loud, “You think that’s his real hair?”
The ad then says in voice-over, “Need a little quiet time? Give them Quaker Chewies (or whatever the hell they’re called)”
It then shows a marvel of healthy eating -- oatmeal, congealed in bar form with some sort of sugary paste, topped with peanut butter and dipped in chocolate. The voice over continues, "Chewies (whatever)...stops the chatter."
Great, now when the kids are talking too much, stuff a candy bar (essentially) in their mouth. Kind of like giving a barking dog a big wad of peanut butter. No wonder people are getting fat, now crappy food is being advertised as a means of sedating children. Hook 'em on comfort food ASAP!!!
A few years back, it was “Are your children interfering with your precious career and social life? Give them Ritalin!”
Now, they’ve expanded the choices to high GI candy masquerading as a ‘healthy’ oatmeal bar.
