No Gear, No Gold

With the sad performance of our Olympians (in terms of golds), esp the Hoops team, you have to wonder where they lost their edge. Something sure is missing! Wonder what.

I know! God forbid another country should have better conditioned and better skilled athletes-- It must be the juice that all us Americans are on!

I’m sure the rifle team stopped their Test/Stanz cycle and THAT’s why they didn’t medal. Wow! You sure are perceptive!

Or it’s empirical evidence of TC’s “Deflated Nutsacks” hypothesis: The US teams went in all pumped up (from capturing Saddam?) and weren’t hungry enough for the victory.

Athletes give it their best; sometimes, someone else is better. It happens.

US didn’t lose the Gold in basketball just yet. And it’s not that they lost because they are not on the gear. They lost because they didn’t play like a team. In international basketball there is more team work then involved then in the NBA.

I doubt there is any olympian who isn’t using “some” type of performance enhancer.

I sincerely doubt the softball team is on anything performance enhancing besides Redbull.

C’mon dude, really…

I think its a joke that we send pro players to the games anyway.

Red Bull gives me roid-like rage because it makes me need to piss really bad.

It’s about time!

LoL don’t you guyss know that the testing got a lot strickter this year then any other? Also, did you know that they are starting to keep the Olympians’ blood sample in a frige/ freezer and keeping it for the next olympics and if he or she tests positive of any kind of illegal substance they are stripped away of all their medals.

I think is safe to say most of the OLYMIPIN’s are natrual if not they are already disqualified or the backed down already.

I didn’t say steroids, I said performance enhancers, considering the amount of stimulant contained within RedBull, yes this would be an enhancer frowned upon by the IOC.

Why? Other countries do it. How else would a country like ours send its best players?

And don’t give me that old tradition BS. The games were designed by a bunch of rich aristocrats, and the rules against paid athletes were placed simply to keep out the poor people.

Substance use is a part of any sport on almost every level. Being that these are world class athletes, they definitely have access to world class ways of beating tests. Don’t be naive. Just watch and enjoy the Olympics.

What’s so sad about it? The most recent count shows the U.S. leading with 29 medals - 10 gold, 10 silver, and 9 bronze. Second place is China with 22 total.

1 Yes, these are world class freak of nature, truly gifted athletes.
1a In the process of the insane training and coaching they recieve, yes, they have access to and most likely use some form of performance enhancing substances.
2 The Men’s hoops team isn’t dominationg because no one fears Team USA basketball anymore. This isn’t The Dream Team anymore, it’s AI, Duncan, Lamar Odom! and a bunch of other talented, but not upper eshilon players.
2a Now the rest of the world is getting REALLY good at b ball (See Dallas Mavericks, Sucramento Queens, and Yao Ming)
3 Agin, The Atomic Dog is right, everyone on Earth is pumped to come after the US, but it’s hard to get psyched about beating Puerto Rico in anything.
4 The saying is true, you really can’t win em all.

Yes, they do but as the tests gets better they start weeding out the athlete’s that are using the drugs. Also again like I said starting this year they are keeping the blood/urine samples for the future if the test postive in the future olympics they will strip away all the past medal’s and records. I would say that most athletes are not trying to take illegal substances this year compare to the years past. I think thats why your not seeing too many world records beinging broken this olympics then the past olympics.

There are plenty of records being broken! Nearly all the weightlifting records have been shattered! Where is your source of this information?

On 14 August, day one of the Olympic Games, two world records were broken in Swimming and three in Weightlifting.

A world record in Swimming from the South Africa team in the 4x100m Men’ s Freestyle Relay and the defeat of USA ’ s team by Puerto Rico characterised day two of the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games.

A rich Olympic day has ended with 14 finals, 22 events held in 20 Competition Venues with China still in the lead of the overall Medal Standings. In total, six Olympic records were broken today: 1 in Shooting, 3 in Weightlifting, and 1 in Swimming.

Two new Swimming World Records and the hosting of the Men?s and Women?s Shot Put events in the Ancient Stadium in Olympia for the first time in modern history characterised the day. Yuriy BILONOG from Ukraine won gold at the Men?s Shot Put event, while at the Women?s event Russia?s Irina KORZHANENKO became Olympic Gold medallist.

Dude, Your nuts. With the recent discovery on how to test for the new substance THG (which used to be untraceble) and the refridgeration methods no one in their right mind will try and f**K around with there outcome of the games. So many athelts and T&F have already been screwed by TGH. Thats why alot of countries don’t have some of their “best” athlets. casue the IOC and IAAF have screwed em.

I cracked a joke at work this week about how many different sports have sucked as far as US participants are cocnerned. It was along the lines of “drug” use. It was a joke, but the guys at work did think my joke had a sense of truth. Personally drugs used or not- it didn’t always appear that some US athletes were focused on their “game”.

I also cracked a joke about Japan winning the men’s team gold in gymnastics. Saying that Japan had the edge because they weren’t in conflict with any other nations in the world. Whether that’s true or not, it was a joke that seemed true.

Just checked the medal count, we’re still leading. U.S. has 33 total - 13 gold, 11 silver, 9 bronze. China is second with 28 total.
