Here’s an example simply put, both lifters same weight, near same age
JOE: squats 600 no belt no wraps
MIKE: squats 900 with any combo or all of belt, wraps, squat suit
but MIKE can’t squat 600 no belt no wraps
who is the stonger lifter?

@ 2-scoops
yeah I believe too that my bulk provides lots of support and stability with heavy load on my back.
Never seen a SHW who didn’t have as much or more bulk as me.
the smaller lifters certainly should have a good deal of core strength albeit less bulk than a SHW, that’s obvious.
prob is folks become so dependent upon the belt, from early and constant use, that the core and many stabilizer muscles never get a chance to strengthen because the belt is doing a good part of what those muscles could be doing.
so guy thinks but if I don’t wear a belt I can’t lift as much, and thereby perpetuates the problem.

Thats like saying what weighs more: a pound of bricks or 2 pounds of feathers. 900 is more than 600. And where in the hell is this equipment that adds 300+lbs to your squat?
Gear or raw, none of this shit matters. Lifting heavy weights matters. If you can lift heavy weights raw, great, if you lift heavy weights with gear, great. Just do it.

^What this gigantic mofo just said. I’m sure if you look you can find a federation out there that will support your views. Hell there are only 2000 of them.

Raw should be completely nude. So we can really see that depth. Also, a 4th judge needs to be added. They will lay directly under the squatter. His nose must enter the anus of the lifter in order for it to count. We can call it ATJ (Ass to judge) squats.
You can’t train for raw lifting. Training, like using gear, wraps, belts, tight “big dog” t-shirts, increases your total and gives you an unfair advantage. If raw lifters want to train, some governing organization needs to hand out a syncronized training program that everyone must follow… in order to make it fair.
Everyone who competes in raw lifting should get a trophy. Everybody wins when you dont put that silly gear stuff on. It doesnt matter about the weight lifted in the POWERLIFTING competition. Just as long as everyone gets in the meet and has a good time.
I’m glad this thread is on here I can finally come out of the closet… I enjoy raw lifting. Phew. I feel like a wieght has been lifted off my shoulders… oh wait… thats just my squat going to shit because I blew both my knees out from all my raw squatting.
x3
And anyone eating over 50 grams of protein a day needs to be DQ’d.
Also the judge who’s nose is being squatted onto by the anus of the lifter must be measured to come no more than 10" from the ground, and if there isn’t fecal matter on his nose after the squat attempt, it doesn’t count.
Also, any grunting, angry looks, caffeine, loud noises, or intense looks of concentration and focus are strictly prohibited, as they may increase testosterone and lifting numbers, therefore obviously making them cheating. duh.
^OK I don’t know about you guys but Deadlifting is going to be an issue for me. I will be in no rush for a fast lockout.
No chalk allowed either damn it!!!
but seriously I’ll bet you there are plenty of 900 pound squatters that aren’t able to perform a 600 pound no belt squat, that doen’t mean they are weak
the other side is that there are probably a good # of 600 pound no belt fellas that couldn’t handle 900 pounds, thats just how it is

your analogy is skewed, 2 pounds of feathers weighs more.
i know what you’re trying to say, but don’t think it’s an accurate annalogy.
and yeah my hypothetical ex above was a bit extreme, i agree. OK say Mike squats 675-700 with gear, but can’t do 600 no gear.
@ Likewater,
saying someone is weak and who’s stronger are 2 completely different things.
No one here ever said the former.
back to my federation that uses a zero-equipment & full equipment total
no equip full equip combo
Sq 650 900 1550
BP 375 500 775
Dl 650 720 1370
TOTAL
3695 (math done quickly in head, at least that # is close)

this!
and why write about raw lifting (like in the title of this thread) in ALL CAPS?

Because it sound super duper KICK ASS AND HARD CORE!!!
Duh.
I am confus. I thought wraps give some support and some people get a couple of pounds (10-20… small now that I think about it) on their lifts. Eh, oh well, shows what I know. I’m too cheap/stupid to use gear, so RAWRRRR all the way! lol

Seriously, can Mike squat 900 in a belt and wraps, but not 600 with neither?
EDIT: Missed the posts above. My bad.

yes 2 punds of feathers weighs more. so does 675-700. none of this matters. whose arms are bigger? who has banged the most chicks? Mike has squatted more weight in a meet so I assume he can chug a beer faster than Joe. These are all questions that need to be answered before your hypothetical scenario can have any validity.
I can settle this whole thing right now… raw lifting is gay unless you can total over 2000lbs. Then its impressive. Who agrees with me?

Na. Bit extreme. 1992.384 lbs is way more reasonable, but you have to be doing it naked otherwise you get carryover.
Lets just make it that you can’t talk shit about equipment, say what raw is, or ask “Who is stronger?” comparing totally different lifts and feds till you total over 2000 raw. Deal?

doesn’t matter??? in the bigger scheme of life, yeah none of this matters it’s just after all it’s just iron game.
but since this whole forum is about iron game, and strength or powerlifting then it is a legit topic for discussion.
consider this then:
BOB: admitted juicer squats 700
JOHN: lifetime natural squats 700, all other conditions are equal, both wore a belt
who is stronger?
if you say JOHN is stronger, then I can’t see how anyone would dismiss the previous example?
why do some dudes throw the “gay” word out at everything that they can’t handle, accept as true, defend or disprove?
the question of who is stronger is suddenly no longer relavent or doesn’t matter, when it don’t stack up in your favor, I get it.
I use the “gay” word because I am gay.
And 700 is 700. If Bob is juicing and can only squat 700 he is:
You hit the nail on the head. The internet has made whoever is stronger irrelavent. All that matters on the internet how concerned people are about whatever they feel is the right way to do things. When what really matters is lifting weights and getting stronger in real life, which 99% of people who claim to be involved in powerlifting have completely neglected.
