Haha, I’m the exact opposite–strictly business on leg day and social on upper body day. As Layne Norton says; upperbody is fun day, leg days is business! Guess it depends on your goals though. I’ve gotta say nikki, I’ve got to scroll through a lot of text to find your workouts–you’ve got over half the nation posting in here it seems!

My upper body is my main goal because I don’t want the judges to think that my upper body doesn’t match my lower body so I try to give my upper body undivided attention.

And I appreciate half the nations’ comments! :smiley:

I do my diet, and I think I said it before, that I cycle my calories. So it’s not 1200 calories A day, it was just 1200 cals THAT day. After the yogurt, it was more like 1500 cals anyway.
Some days I have to force myself to eat 1200 calories, other days I have to force myself not to eat over 3000. It’s just my mood.
So cycling is convenient for me.

Lower body day, high reps

Tried tri-sets today, dynamic movement followed by antagonist/agonist muscle pairings.
Nearly killed me.

A1) Bench Jumps
A2) Back Squat
A3) Prone Leg Curl

15, 115 x 15, 60 x 15
15 x 2, 135 x 15 x 2, 70 x 15 x 2

B1) Plate Swings with 25#
B2) SLDL
B3) Hack Squat

15, 65 x 15, 90 x 15
15, 85 x 15, 180 x 15
15, 125 x 15 Rep PR, 200 x 15

I tried to do the BB hack squats but I think my butt is too big so I did the machine instead.

C1) Leg Press
C2) Cable Pull-through

6 plates x 15, 15 x 15
8 plates x 15, 20 x 15
10 plates x 15, 20 x 15

D1) BB Thrust
D2) BB Walking Lunge

90 x 12 x 3, 60 x 20 x 3

Glute Kickback Machine
90 x 15
110 x 15 x 2

Adductor/Abductor Machine
50 x 15 for both
60 x 15 for both for 2 sets

3 sets standing calf raises, 110 x 15

Oy BB Walking lunges. I know they’re good for you, but for some reason I just don’t “feel” lunges. Like they don’t work for me or something. And when I do them walking I feel these sort of weird little strains in my quads! So I don’t do them…

I take long strides with the lunges. I used to not feel anything with the lunges too until I realized that my short legs needed to take bigger steps. That, mind-in-muscle and push off the heels and today, I can’t walk ;D

I did train upper body today. It wasn’t a great workout, I realized that I wanted a change so after the Holidays, I’ll start my new program.

Anyway, I can’t WAIT for Xmas, I need the break from work.
I came home today and just cuddled with my Min Pin, I’m just so exhausted. But she makes all problems melt away <3

Cliff notes of workout:

DB Incline Press SS Assisted Wide Grip Pull ups
DB Fly SS Triangle Bar Pulldown
Krocs (75# Yay… 13 reps only Boo)
OH DB Press SS Upright Row
Lateral Raise SS L-Raise

With your lunges try pulling the knee back as it is lowering to the ground, if that makes any sense, it makes you keep your upper body upright and stresses the quad and hip flexor a little more. It means you cant power through them as fast but… My 2 cents.

Good advice Timmy, I do that though.
And I’m slow and deliberate with the walking lunges, I don’t speed through them. I don’t speed through any movement really. I just feel like I’m cheating myself.

Are you using straps for the Krocs? I have real trouble holding onto the dumbell once it goes over 60lbs. shame

Somehow I managed to miss two of your workouts. Wow on those high rep squats. HOw are you not puking during your workouts squatting that amount of weight that many times? And kroc rows with 70–no wonder the boys harass you while you’re working out. look at the grip!

If it’s not obvious, I’m deloading now. I don’t NEED it, but the holidays are hectic and gym schedules aren’t cool, so I’ll take this as a sign.
I just want to skip to Saturday when I’m sitting at the table with my family, pigging out.
Silly me thought that just because the gym will be closed soon, that I won’t have to work as much. Now, I laugh at how naive that was for me to think.
