Nikki's Workout Log

Nikki! It’s gingerysweets from muscle & fitness hers forums:) I’m sorda new to these forums as well, but they seem to get a lot of attention.

Anyways, great blog. I’ll be keeping up with it

I recognized you by your awesome back before I even read your post.

You have get a log going so I can follow you here as well.

Nice squatting! MiM gives good advice - listen to the wise woman.

That push day looks hellacious - very impressive!

Shit, showing me how to do squats probably requires a lot of patience.

Yes, it takes years and years to be good at it. Keep it up, and you will get there!

Nah, it doesn’t take years, just takes good habits right from the start. I’ve seen a lot of people cued correctly have very nice squats their very first time

It takes years to become a good squatter. Both technique and strenght takes years and years to be good at. There is always something that can be improved. Even the top weightlifters and the top powerlifters have things they work on to improve.

If you think otherwise, there is no need to discuss with you.

The squat wasn’t super deep but not terrible either. When I first started squatting I had a tendency to fold over. Sometimes it’s a matter of your core strength catching up with your ass/hamstring strength and with legs like yours, you are built to squat some heavy ass weight.

I do think otherwise, it doesn’t take “years and years” to have GOOD technique…it takes years and years to perfect technique.
Of course every lifter has things to work on to improve, that doesn’t mean that they don’t already have good technique. I’m not arguing that you can begin with a perfect squat, but you can sure as hell begin with good technique. Comes harder for some than others

To comment on the video though, looked not bad, couple points though

  • head up, you can see your head a bit in the video, and it looks like your looking down/have you chin slightly tucked…try lifting your chin and pulling your chest up
  • drive your head back into the bar coming out of the hole and glutes forward, you do that almost 3/4 of the way up
  • I cant see if your doing it or not from the angle, but push your knees out as you hit parallel and drop between your knee’s a little, paired with head up/chest up, you’ll be in a lot better position coming out of hte bottom

Keep up the good work though, looking good

TBH, I just started squats with BBs on June 28. Not bad IMHO.

ouroboro_s, I definetely have to hold my core tighter. My goal is ATG, but I’m still a tad proud to even get parallel with 146 lbs, although my posture wasn’t 100%.

Oh well, tomorrow’s another day.

Thanks Ed, I’ll keep those points in mind

WOW! Not bad AT ALL! you just started in June?!

It took me forever to get the nerve to put the big wheels on…(the 45s)

Great work!!

Nikki, pretty good squatting there girl! One more tip, don’t try to incorporate all at once, it can be a head game too, pull your back/blades together tight, back needs to stay tight the whole squat process.

Thanks MiM and lil power. Weird that I just started BB squats in June, I don’t think any one would believe it if I didn’t have a vid, although it’s not perfect.

Lil power, I’m definetely trying to keep my blades together all DAY, b/c my posture is a big problem in the gym and out. But I’m definetely working on it  Thanks for stopping by, it’s awesome getting a tip from you as well.
