Hello all im contemplating on getting these shoes for my high bar squats recently i have been putting 5 lb plates under my heels and ive broken old prs like nothing these shoes have an effective heel height of .75 inch do you think they would be worth getting. With the 5 lb plates under my heels i can go lower drive up easier and stay more upright so im assuming these shoes would replace the plates and help me progress what do you think?
They have a steep price but they’re awesome shoes. If it’s just squats you’re looking for the Wei Rui’s are a better value. I think they have some vxiii 2s on stock.
I bought them about six months ago and I would highly recommend them. I’m not a huge squatter, 410 1RM, but they make a difference. First few times squatting in them took a little adjustment period. Once used to them PR’s started flowing in over the next six month. It’s not just the lift in the heel that makes them great, the rock solid flat bottom make you feel like you’re glued to the floor. They are a bit expensive but if you have the money to spare why not? Rogue also has their own set.
I haven’t tried the Rogue ones but the review on them seem to be good.
Over the past two months I have started using them for over head presses and on warm-ups for dead lift. They give you a much more stable base for over head pressing and on dead lift once I switch to my dead lift shoes, merrell barefoot’s, the weight starts moving much better. Gives the feel of warming up off a small deficit which I believe there was an article on here about that a few weeks ago.
I have been using the Romaleo’s for the last year, and would never contemplate going back to any other type of shoe for squatting movements. Price is steep but you get what you pay for.

Even if deadlifting flat heel is your preferred syle, if you have a leg drive issues using the weightlifting shoes is a great variation for that which doesn’t change up the mechanics too much.

So you’re saying that deadlifting in oly shoes could help with initiating a deadlift with your quads first?

Yep. I find it makes it easier on you back too. It makes the bottom of the pull feel more like a leg press.
I’ve squatted high bar since I started lifting and every time I’ve tried to low bar it just does not seem to work…
Gonna buy these. But only once I finally get that four plate squat. I’ll use the reward as extra external motivation.
But seriously fuck the lack of vendors and the very pricey international shipping ($50 at least).
