Nike Free's?

The nike free 7.0 trainers are without a doubt the greatest shoes i have ever owned in my life.

However, in my experience, they do fall apart fairly quickly. I am on my 4th pair in about 8 months, because the little rubber pieces on the bottom keep falling off.

I don’t wear them on rough ground, only in the gym and on the track. My last pair which is the new version of the 7.0 trainer (slightly different upper, no real changes) had 2 pieces fall off the bottom after only one track workout.

Luckily, I work at the store where these are sold and every time a pair falls apart I send them back as defective and get another free pair!

When you buy your free’s, make sure that you can return them within 30 days if they are a defective pair, that way you can keep getting free ones for as long as the store carries them.

My best friend who also uses free’s now has had the same problem and is on his third pair. We both agree that they are still the best athletic shoes ever created though.

I’ve had three pairs in the last two years and they are still going strong (different colors and one pair I keep at work if you were wondering why so many). I think some of you just don’t known how to take care of your shit and then blame whatever product you fucked up.

The first pair I bought tore at that fabric portion that sits right at the heel (not a big deal as it doesn’t effect the function of the shoe, just the esthetics). The other two haven’t and I wear those more often.

Someone tearing up two pairs of shoes a month is either careless or trying to tear up their shoes. If they were that fragile, they wouldn’t be selling.
I’m not careless, but I sent back the first pair and Nike said it was a manufacturing error. Then I got another pair and the same thing happened. I think it is because I’ve been sprinting and playing a little bit of basketball in them.

I think the difference between you and I is that I’m using them for more than just lifting and walking around in.

How are the Nike Free Trail? I will be running on diffrent surfaces (mostly off road, gravel).

Have ascis now and they are alright, just looking for something diffrent.
I have a pair of the Trails and I believe they are very similar to the 5.0’s with the exception of the sole. I use them to run short distances on a golf course and they’re great. Looking to get a pair of 7.0s when I find some on sale (I’m a cheap bastard).

I was messing around the Nike Website today and saw they have a Nike Free trainer 7.0v2 now. They look different then the original 7.0’s.

Anyone have these yet? If so care to give a comparison to the trainer 7.0’s?

I currently have a pair of the 5.0 trainers and 7.0 trainers.

they are what i now have, they dont really seem any better to me though. the 7.0 v2’s upper is a bit different, but the feel is mostly the same. it is more of a cosmetic change, not a functional improvement.

Thanks.

Just got a pair of the 7.0s, and they are the perfect fitting shoes for me.

Word of caution: These are for people with narrow feet. If you have wide feet, you may want to look at another shoe!!!

Professor X, would you mind telling me how you like the 7.0 in comparison with the 5.0?

I like the 5.0’s better as far as feeling like I’m not wearing shoes that hold in all heat and moisture. The 7.0’s are more stabile and have more protection over the top of the foot. It isn’t much of a difference, but if I had to choose which one I would wear all of the time, it would be the 5.0’s.
hey Prof X, when you’re advocating the nike frees, you’re talking about the trainers right?

Is there a difference? To my knowledge, there is only one type of shoe named “Nike Free 5.0 or 7.0”. I have both kinds even though I haven’t worn the 7.0’s yet. I usually train in the 5.0’s, including the mild cardio I do currently.

My wife and I both picked up a pair of the 7.0 trainers a couple of weeks ago while we were in San Marcos, TX - visiting the Nike Outlet Store.

These are the best shoes I have ever had. comfortable does not even come close to describing them.

The first couple of days felt like I was standing on an incline because of how flat they are.

Anyhow - we both love them.

They had them in “free runners”, and “free trainers”. But I’m no expert.

the trainers have the support strap running horizontally across the top i believe.

haha, awesome!

But can you wear them?

My 7.0’s have the strap horizontally across the front of the shoe and have more stabilization on the side of the foot. The ones in that picture look like regular 5.0’s…a really ugly pair.

I just got my 5.0’s today and they’re great. Amazing support and, just really hard to describe how good they are to train in. They will take some getting used to for squats but I like them already. It is so much easier to sit back on the squat with these shoes. I honestly didn’t believe they would make that much of a difference. Thanks Prof and everyone else for the recommendation.

Aside from TS and his buddy, has anyone else noticed that frees are prone to self-destruct?

I’ve had one pair for over a year and the only thing that broke on them is that fabric portion they put right at the heel. If someone is going through shoes every 2 months, you have to question what they are doing to the shoe.

No shoe is indestructible and if you are the type who just tears shit up and doesn’t care for them, then maybe steel toed work boots would fit you better.

I have four pairs: 3 - 7.0 Trainers and 1 pair of the 5.0 Trail shoes. I hike several times a week and jog in the Trail shoes and I’ve noticed nothing other than normal wear and tear on that pair. The 7.0 Trainers I wear daily to the gym and play basketball in them and every pair has held up great.

They are fantastic shoes and I can’t even imagine owning a different pair of athletic shoes now.

I used to train in Chucks and now I can’t even wear them.
