Nike Free's?

I finally got to use them for Squats and Seated calf raises today, they were great. I highly suggest them.

I’v been getting alot of bother with strains in my groin, hams and quads since I got my pair of nike free’s. My friendwho has a pair has also picked up a couple of strains. We play rugby league so we do a lot of sprinting. Has any one else had this problem?

I just bought a pair of Nike Frees. But for some reason, the only ones I could find were 4.0’s. I can’t seem to find any reference to the 4.0’s, just the 5.0’s and 7.0’s ?

Does anyone know what the numbers actually mean?

On a scale of 1-10, say shoes were 10.0 & barefeet are 0.0, the Frees version is how close they are to barefeet - ie. the 5.0 series is about halfway

Probably the coolest pair of free’s.

Yesterday, I ran in my old running shoes and got shin spints (i have medial shin splints btw) and cursed my life. I came back, wore my free’s, and actually felt the shin splints go away. It was the first time I ran and had to stop because I was out of breath, not because of a nagging shin pain.

Same pair.

Those are sick… Did you deesign those?

I’ve had two pairs of nike free’s in the last month and they both fell apart on the bottom. Any one else ever have this problem?

I’ve had three pairs in the last two years and they are still going strong (different colors and one pair I keep at work if you were wondering why so many). I think some of you just don’t known how to take care of your shit and then blame whatever product you fucked up.

The first pair I bought tore at that fabric portion that sits right at the heel (not a big deal as it doesn’t effect the function of the shoe, just the esthetics). The other two haven’t and I wear those more often.

Someone tearing up two pairs of shoes a month is either careless or trying to tear up their shoes. If they were that fragile, they wouldn’t be selling.

Just bought some Nike Free 7.0 for my son for off season football workouts. They were a little hard to find, I had to drive 30 min or so to a different mall with a Champs.

He lifted in them today and likes them a lot so far. Tomorrow is speed training… I hope they are as good as advertsed.

5.0s are all over the place here, and the really ugly ones are on sale pretty cheap.
I need to know if these would be good shoes for plyo’s and sprinting for a heavier football player. My Soph. son is 6’4", 260. I was going to order some 5’s or 7’s out of Eastbay, but I am a little dubious about the lack of cushioning, which I realize is the purpose of the shoe, but the question remains, is it a good shoe for a heavier athlete to train in?

I am the lightest I have been in about a year at around 260lbs at over 5" shorter than your son. I haven’t specifically used these for sprints but don’t see why they wouldn’t work.

I was thinking of doing the customization thing for a pair of the 5.0 v2 runners…

I came up with a design with a Marine Corps inspired look. Does it look alright?

sorry but those remind of Ronald McDonald.

Prof,

Do you wash your Free’s by hand or do you throw them in the washer.

Everytime my wife sees me scrubbing my Free’s she tells me it’s perfectly fine to throw them in the washer since she does it with other shoes.

To the other people, I’ve had my 5.0’s trainers for almost 1.5 years and other than some stains that I can’t get out and normal wear on the bottom I’ve had no problems with tearing. However I don’t wear them for sport so perhaps there is something to that.

Now that I’ve had my 7.0 trainers for a few months I actually find the 5.0’s to feel a little more bulky/cushioning than the 7.0’s.

My wife isn’t 1/2 as active as I am and she tore the back of her Free’s open (I’m convinced it was because of the way she took off her shoes (using one foot to push the shoe off method) while the shoe is fine and doesn’t interfere at all she still refuses to wear them now.

I’m wearing my 7.0s right now and love em. I’ll be buying another pair for sure. Great shoe b/c I have a skinny foot.

For the guys who use them with out any socks, what type of odor/cleaning spray do you use for the shoes? I just bought a pair of 7.0s and i love them; I want to take good care of them so they last for a while.

Now for the guys who have more than one pair, why? Are the 5.0 and 7.0 that different to warrant buying one of each? I have the 7.0s and I use them for working out and running. Thanks
I prefer the 7.0 b/c you can tuck the laces under the strap.

Not quite as big as your son, but I’m 240 at 6’3" and have no problems running sprints in my 7.0’s.

A couple people asked about running or specifically sprinting. I’d rather use a track flat for sprinting, they’re flat and low to the ground too, but usually have more build to the upper, and have better durability because of that

How are these for width?

I don’t have extraordinarily wide feet, but if the shoe has different widths, I get the widest one.

Prof X and the rest of the folks who responded specifically to my post, thank-you. I value your opinion very much. I think that I will buy a pair for my son, and for myself. Then we’ll really see if they’re good for a big trainer. (I’m 6’3", 320.)

I may not run as fast, or jump as high as some, but I land harder. I do look forward to lifting in them.

I did not read through this whole forum so if it was disccused already, I apologize.

How are the Nike Free Trail? I will be running on diffrent surfaces (mostly off road, gravel).

Have ascis now and they are alright, just looking for something diffrent.
