NFL Drug Testing?

I am a junior in highschool and i have this one class that is a requirement to give speeches. I chose my speech to be on NFL Drug testing. I was wondering if anyone knew how many times they test? is it random? How many guys they test at once? I seen alot of this information in the series “Playmakers” but i dont know if it is all true. Tell me as much as you know, thanks.

Ricky Willimas is gettting tested 10 times a month by the NFL when he’s playing in the CFL.

Is this all anyone knows? I thought someone would know more about this topic than just one person. Well how bout this whats your opinion on NFL drug testing is it controlled, or is it not good enough?

As far as I know, NFL drug testing is done “in-house”, meaning the league itself is in control of the tests, not an independent group. This means the league controls what measures are taken against those who test positive for banned substances, as well as what information becomes public.

The league would probably like a “clean” sport. However, it’s primary goal is to provide an entertaining game - played by bigger, faster players - that will draw more money.

Draw your own conclusions.

I reccomend doing some actual research on the topic rather then just asking someone to tell you everything they know. How do you know if that information is credible?

If you are gonna tell me that juice is less prevolent in the NFL than it is in the MLB, I will die of laughter.

I know one of the coaches for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, from what he has told me it runs a lot more rampant than the public has any idea. As far as providing documentable, credible information, I can’t.

They only test players that are screwing up on and off the field, and when they turn up hot, in voilation, they are released from their contract.
Good players that aren’t making their teams look bad don’t get tested, but it is a nail in the coffin for bad ones.

This article by Chris Street should help you out.

it’s laughable that this post was actually written. not because it is a stupid post, but because the general public thinks that the steroid “problem” is only in baseball because of all the incessant media attention given to it. these are the same people that are surprised to hear that pro bodybuilders use roids. duh.

Why are they even testing these NFL players? Everbody knows football players are some of the cleanest athletes around, we should be going after the real culprits…curlers and golfers!
