I am the Fitness Director at a local college in Miami, FL and would like to use the Super Bowl as a promotional tool for our fitness/wellness programs towards our students.
My idea is to “See if you could play in the NFL” using the 225lb combine bench press test and then charting the student into a position (e.g. “X” reps means you are strong enough to play as a linebacker etc). The male students should get a kick out of this.
Problem is I cannot seem to find such a chart online that breaks down combine results by position. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks for those links. While helpful, I really need some sort of standard…for “X” position it is expected you can bench press “Y” times. Those link give actual results which vary from player to player.

Myosin, why dont you take two minutes and figure the average out your self. Total reps per position/ # of players, magic![/quote]
I was about to post the same thing. I wonder how dedicated to his students someone who won’t even take a half-hour to make a simple chart is.
Not that he needs defending from any of you, but he wanted numbers from actual players for normal students to compare themselves to. He got what he needed because some people felt like helping. God forbid any of you look for any help or advice from anyone on this site…

You’re not going to find those sort of standards because the varience within the group is going to be so high. Linemen will bench between 15-45+ reps, so I’m not sure how that would put anyone into a specific classification of strength. RBs, TEs, and LBs will have similar numbers, followe dby DBs, WRs, QBs, and Ks.
You can find the numbers. Recording numbers within any group, you will find a mean or average. Of course there will be people who fall above or below the mean, but looking at the data will show you (on average) what certain positions are lifting. On average, O linemen will lift more than everyone else on the team (except for D tackles) and QBs, Wideouts and specialists will lift less…
