NFL 2012/2013 Part 3

That is FUBAR, lol. He isn’t the greatest, but I wouldn’t put him much below Eli, and he is golden in the playoffs. (And making the playoffs)

Would he look as good without Rice and that D? I don’t know, but good christ, he isn’t that bad.

That said I think Sanchize would win in Baltimore & Dallas, assuming Dallas can find a running game.

I’d say Rice is big factor and the D in his first 3 years is why the Ravens went to the playoffs for sure.

I don’t know about Sanchez. The Jets have had pretty good teams and he just hasn’t gotten it done. I wouldn’t want him especially after this years performance.

Pats will own that division for a while still.

Is this the beginning of a post-Brady/Belichick Patriots team?

Has Tom Brady gone the way of Peyton Manning, becoming a glorified game manager and just sucking in the playofs?

Hellooooo Ryan Mallett!

lol

Post Brady, yes. I doubt Bill will leave anytime soon, not when his d is actually starting to look like one at times.

Mallett has a good arm, if he can get his head on straight, well, I’m not so worried then.

I just saw this.

Taunting a player about his brothers death that occurred this year. What is wrong with you America. I’m ashamed of this.

I could care less who wins the Super Bowl. I hope it comes down to the very end with the winning team scoring with barely any time left. If it does come down to a field goal and it’s up to David Akers I would be very worried as a Niner fan.

As a general rule, boston/new england fans, in all sports, are the worst.

Red Sox fans are awful, trust me, I’m one.

no.

Philly fans are the worst.

Flyers, Eagles, it doesn’t matter. They SUCK

If this game is close at the end my money is on the Ravens. Boldin has to come up big and keep making the tough catches like he’s been doing. He’ll be the go to guy at the end, not Rice, Smith or Pitta. Just a hunch. I could see a game where the Ravens come out tight, weather the storm and take and keep the lead at the end. Barf…

Niners should win by at least ten. I hope they do anyway.

Is there a Vegas line on how many injury timeouts there are in the game? I expect plenty in this SB. Body bag game for sure.

I #kaepernick before hitting my biceps at the gym.

Something happened to him after the loss in the SB in 2007 and he lost his edge in big games, he just lays eggs too foten now in them. (Part of this is a D that sucks it, so he knows he needs to carry the team at times.)

[/quote]

Exactly what I said. He’s lost his edge and it’s a shame because he does have more talent than Montana did.

I think Elway is in the top 5 GOAT
No order
Staubach
Aikman
Montana
Elway
Brady

LOL Have you guys ever heard of RAIDER FAN?

Elway is the GOAT. All you Montana lovers need to look at the teams Montana took to the superbowl vs the teams Elway took. Montana had legendary teams, Elway had scraps. Scraps plus Terrell Davis for the championships.

I say this having grown up a Montana fan and hating Elway. At some point though, you just have to step back and judge objectively. When you do that, Elway is the GOAT

Bullshit. Elway played on a lot of teams with really good defenses too. And he played with one less Hall of Famer than Montana did so I don’t think that it’s accurate to say that Elway played on piss-poor teams while Montana’s teams were stacked. Sure, Montana played on teams with a higher overall talent level. But guess who was the best player hands down on those teams? Montana.

And maybe Montana’s teams seemed stacked, especially on offense, because he made the players around him much better. Name one offensive player, just ONE player who played with Montana and went on to have better seasons away from SF than he did in SF. There aren’t any. Everyone who played on the offensive side of the ball for the 49ers during Montana’s career enjoyed the best seasons of their career in SF. Even Russ Francis and Freddie Solomon had some of their best years later in their career playing with Montana.

Besides all that, I challenge you to watch Elway’s embarrassingly pathetic performance in the Super Bowl after the 1989 season and tell me he was better than Montana. Watch that game, front to back, and then come back here and try and make that argument with a straight face. Montana put 55 points on the board against the NFL’s top defense that year while Elway struggled to complete any passes at all in the first half. His longest pass was a little shovel pass that traveled about a yard before the RB took it another 28 yards on his own.

Elway looked rattled, not sure of himself and over-anxious, whereas Montana looked like he’s been there before, because he had three times already and had just led one of the great come-from-behind, last-minute drives of all-time to win the previous Super Bowl.

And since they ALL play to win the Super Bowl and whoever wins the Super Bowl is considered the greatest team that year, it’s only appropriate to place extra import on the performance of players in that game, especially the QB. And Elway simply played like shit in 3 of the 5 Super Bowls he played in and truth be told, he wasn’t even the best player on offense the two times he did win a ring. Can’t ever say that about Montana. He was always the best player on the field for either team when he played, including the seasons he spent with Jerry Rice.

All QB’s get rattled when they’re getting pounded even Elway and Montana. You can’t use one game as an example of why Elway wasn’t as good when he was going up against a way better team.

Montana might not have been the best player on all those SB teams. The back up QB might have been better. There were QB controversy seasons in SF where a lot of people wanted young in there. But you know who didn’t want young in there? Coaches for other teams. They didn’t want to have to deal with Young. I’m not really saying young was better. My point is there were some down years when JM didn’t seam so great and that was whole seasons not just one game.

People put on their rose tinted glasses for Montana more than they do any other past QB. I don’t blame you for it DB, you were a little kid at the time and you are still on the Peninsula. How could you think differently? I was a little older at the time (17 for the first SB) and I’ve been away from the Peninsula for over 20 years. It’s much easier for me to be objective.

Did you ever think that Montana’s teams in SF were “legendary” because he was good enough to propel his team to victory?

Teams become “Legendary” by winning rings… Multiple rings.

If Elway would have played well enough to get his team to win a few more SB’s earlier in his career then Elways teams would have been “legendary” as well.

The teams from Brady’s 3 wins aren’t legendary. Why is that? It’s because they weren’t worthy of legendary status, they were carried by a great QB.

(Yes DB, I know, they cheated yadayadayada)

Teams aren’t remembered as legendary while they’re still playing, that’s something that is reserved for teams after they’re done for a while.

Give it another 10-15 years or so and then see how they’re remembered.

That’s weak Greg. There’s people in Muscatine Iowa who can rattle off half a dozen names from the old Niners dynasty. Only hard core types can name anyone from the Patriots dynasty besides Brady and that won’t change in 15 years.

Well, I can name one. Deion Branch. He was pretty damn good back then, then he went to Seattle and was a complete bust. Then he went back to Brady and suddenly is pretty good again.
