im new here too, and I’ve just developed a motto in my head to make things easier when im readin the site…
“you have to build the muscle up before you can show it off”
Underneath all the insults, people are really trying to help you. The main message is to take the time and effort to grow, and when you look back you’ll be that much happier about your progress and end result.

I will be perfectly honest here. I have gotten to where I don’t log into T-Nation that much anymore because of the flaming, and the condescending attitudes and all the bull shit one has to go through to discuss things with intelligent people. Its not limited to the newbies either, more experienced people and veterans get into flame wars over very stupid things as well.
The OP did deserve the criticism on his topic, not an all out onslaught. Furthermore, it’s not good for the reader of the threads looking for info to read the bs, the op getting mad over the bs, and the people blasting out the flames, they should be spending their time training, learning or living life.
Finally, I think some longer time members should set an example for the newer ones, of not flaming and acting like children. Its expected when the dumb teenagers (no offense) act like children. But when grown ups do it? What kind of example is that for younger lifters and atheletes? [/quote]
Im the other way,i log on here to read the flames.
Listen, enough web sites have yes men eveywhere.THAT IS BORING!
Instead of complaining the OP should just go back to bodybuilding.com and jack off to the contest bodybuilding pictures.
Setting an example? NUP dont think so.As i said before im not going to be a YES man and agree with everthing a newbie wants or spend 10-20 mins copying links and giving advice when he/she can just click on the “most recent article’s” or “search” button"

now hold on…personally, i refer to the 140lb little shit talkers as “internet badasses”…are the little guys now referring to the big guys as “internet badasses” as well? i just want to make sure im on the right side of the fence here.

Going by the “male escort” thread, anyone who wrote that they would not run back into the building was either labeled as an internet badass or “ghetto”. Apparently, this site is being overrun by the entire 90210 cast.
Honestly, if you’re serious about lifting and getting better and more knowledgable, you’ll be on this site regardless of the forums.
If you get flamed…don’t fucking post! Stay off the boards and learn more, than come back under a different name or something.
This is the goddamn internet. Stop acting like it’s real life, and stop coddling these skinny guys who want to cut. Without guys like X bitching constantly about bulking and eating, I myself would have never caught on to the whole thing. These guys won’t either, and the only way they’ll understand is by looking at the progress others make.
I personally don’t give a shit whether they ever come back here or not. For all you guys know it could be some fat kid who smoked too much pot trying to get a laugh at everybody. This is a website…people will come and go, and flaming, honestly, can be fun once in a while, especially when they deserve it- like the original poster right here does.

When T-Nation (the forums) came about, I actually didn’t bother posting in the forums for an year or so. I was already learning from the archived articles and the search functions.
It was awesome how I can look up a vitamin, mineral, or supplement I was planning on taking and instantly finding out others’ research and lit reviews on whether what I was thinking of taking was any good.
That was a hell lot faster than writing a post, waiting 5 minutes for a moderator to approve it (not meant to be an insult, the mods here are awesome), and then waiting a half-hour to a half-day for somebody to answer my question.
It’s still a hell lot faster today. I’m just speaking from experience, and I’m hoping that the new posters here will learn from mine. But somehow I doubt it.

See ive only been on here for at least maybe a week the or two the most and ive already been hacked at for a dumb question. Now see it wasnt my fault simce im so new and all but why do 45% of people on here have to be such assholes they were new at one point in time as well WTF!!
If you want sympathy go cry to your mommy. If you want attention try going to the mall naked. If you want to have enough muscle to “pull it off” and “get chisled” then get off the fucking threads, read the articles, get your skinny little ass to the gym and lift something heavy.
Oh, come here DT, I want to give you a hug. I can tell you need a hug. There, there, let it out. It’s ok to cry. No, no, don’t be embarrassed. Everyone on here has cried at some point. No one is laughing at you. Well, maybe we are laughing at you a little. Ok, a lot. But, damn if my soft scrotum skin isn’t thicker than your wafer-thin shell.
Btw, you should feel lucky that you only caught shit from 45%. Anyhting less than 90% for your thread is light.
Alright well i guess i deserved being hacked at… and i sorry bout my english since it was my second language… and that post about chisle topic yepp guess it kinda pointless o well being a newbie and all pays off.
Yes ive learned things from this site, yes i search topics but most of the time i can’t read to much cause i dont have the time.
So sorry for the bitching and complaining and YES!! i shall suck in all the flaming and info.
I was going to remain silent on this but I can’t resist any longer.
If you don’t have a dictionary, try one of the many sites that offer them online for free. Illiteracy does not impress. Unwillingness to learn only irritates.
The subjective personal pronoun “I” is to be capitalized in the English language. You’ve stated that English is not your first language. This is a free lesson.
Perhaps unknowingly you’ve just stepped on it again with your asinine (adj., Utterly stupid or silly) comment about not having time to read the information on this site.
I'm nearly 40 years old, I have a wife and three children, I run a project management consulting company, I'm active in church, social organizations, and my children's school and sports activities and still manage to find time to read this site and several others. I've recently added working out and improving my diet to an already busy schedule which means I get up an hour earlier than I did a month ago. Don't for one second believe that you are any more busy than the vast majority of people who have read the nonsensical drivel that you repeatedly post.
It’s always this way when you attempt to integrate into a new social group, particularly on the Internet, where we don’t have to see your stupid sad face. Idiot! j/k

Atta boy! Now you’re gettin’ the hang of it.
Well done. Look forward to your next post mate.
If it doesn’t kill you… It makes you stronger. You should be feeling quite a bit stronger already!
As far as not having time to read and learn? It’s up to you to decide what is most important in your life. I guarantee that you have more than enough time in your day to take care of business. Become more efficient and cut back on wasted hours (TV etc.).
As you have found, no one on this site is particularly good at coddling those who don’t make an effort on their own first. If you just do that much, you will be rewarded with respect and encouragment.
By your last post you seem to be taking all this as a learning experience. Congratulations on choosing the high road. Now put in some time and effort and soon you too can play “Flame the Newbie”.

Nice compassion there, Church Boy. The kid waves the white flag and you kick him in the 'nads. Jesus must be proud of you.

Ditto what Duke said. Having the character to weather the storms of your own causing (AND learn from them) gives you points bud.

Ah. Transition made. I’m rather happy that you can suck it up and get to improving yourself. It makes your progress that much faster.
All the flaming going around here may be too much at times for some people, but let’s face it, if we don’t want this place over-run with wussies and yes men, that’s one way to keep out the riff-raff. People who can’t take heat will eventually leave. Sad, yes, but not everyone can be saved sometimes.
I do think it gets out of hand sometimes, but hey, if your ego is never bashed to pieces, you might never learn any thing. FightingIrish said it best–w/o the constant pissing and moaning from Prof X and others, many of us wouldn’t have progressed as far as we have, or at least we wouldn’t see the path to take to get better.
By the way, I waited until 2 years into my training to post a training related question on a forum. I spent about 1.5-3 hours every day reading this site’s back articles until I caught up. There was that much information out there. Read first, ask questions about it after you read. It saves pain.
