LOL.

Hey, part of being a respectable human being is knowing enough not to feed yourself to the wolves…
Respect is given to those who do their own research prior to asking questions like yours. The idea is that those who are serious about their powerlifting/bodybuilding/mma (what have you) would spend time researching first. While this may or may not always be true, it is the general belief.

There are numerous experts that frequently write articles for this website, experts which know more than most of the readers of this website. A simple search would have provided you the answer to your question.

However what you’ve gained now is more valuable than any article you could have found, you now have motivation. You have been “hacked to peices”, and now can prove yourself. Post again in a year after you’ve done your research, implemented a program, tweaked your nutrition, and made some serious gains.
Totally agree!

I’m also a newbie; say 3 months of serious lifting and 5 months of research/surfing the net. I’ve been reading tons of articles here for months and I’ve never asked a single question. There’s a lot of info you can get in here (and other links)just spend more time surfing & reading. That way you’ll learn more and learn better.

one has to do his choice… be a prey or a predator. In any case if you are dumb your life will be the shortest.

and here there are a lot of wannabe-wolf, and some really big wolf. If you want to survive you have to be among the smartest and biggest wolves

Heres the “dumb question post”

It seems your 10 yrs training really hasn’t amounted to much. You started another thread about protein powder and spoke of whey as if it was some new fangled discovery. I gave you a straight answer, but I should have know better. Then you go and start the “chisle down” thread. Like alot of others have said, don’t expect much sympathy if you don’t help yourself first. There’s so much info and help here, but ya gotta work for it.

I do my best to try and have a lot of patience with new people to this site because, hell, I was new once (as were all of us). As I posted in one of your other threads and has been pointed out above, you have not shown any real effort on your own part. That fact alone will caused you to get ripped a new one on here. Also, the fact that you are 5’9" 165 lbs and your first post is about getting leaner, it just shows you have not bothered to read much on here prior to posting.

But even more than that, I think your “crime” is that you seem to be a one-hit wonder on these threads you start. People offer advice, ask you questions about things and you never respond. All that does is show a lack of respect and then allows the ball to truly get rolling in pimp-slapping you all over the thread.

Do not be afraid to ask questions, but for the love of God, put in some effort and take the knocks with a little bit of humility. After a while, you’ll be fine.

Don’t worry about it. You are actually in the majority here at T-Nation. So feel free to keep posting away.

Probably because you’re a fucking moron.

When I was new… I didn’t just jump in and start posting. I actually took time to read articles, read posts and get what the site was all about and learn some shit.

I also passed 8th grade english.

100 points to you for reading the site and searching.

This site is a goldmine of info. there was nothing like this when I was young, nothing. In fact, 90% of the info didn’t exist anywhere in the world, let alone in books or freely available.

Makes me sick that people are too lazy to read it.

In your profile you list your “occupation” as “extreme martial artist” and years training as “10”. Yet in one of the threads you posted, you state that you are “15”. Small wonder people don’t take you seriously.

I don’t cut my own kids “slack” unless they’ve earned it. Why should any of the serious folks on this site cut some lying little sack of shit like you any?

Shut up and read.

Oh yeah, stop whining, puke.

I think most of these guys are in the early to mid teen years and probably couldn’t grasp the idea that guys were actually working out, getting big and learning IN THE GYM prior to the wonderful inter-net age. Young guys would have been handled the same way in the gym if they approached an experienced lifter with some of this shit. The difference would be that most would actually watch, listen and learn in a gym environment before throwing out this kind of crap.

The “bulk up or bust” guy stated that he had been here a year and reading the articles. Bullshit. If he had done any reading he would never have started the thread he did unless boredom took over and he had absolutely nothing else to do.

Very good post. The truth is, these guys would never approach some larger guy in the gym and then get pissed if they didn’t lay out an entire training program for them. The internet has cheapened that aspect of it which is why you get some of these dummies calling people “internet badasses” when the truth is, that is simply how someone dedicated to lifting weight would act in certain situations. When I started training, I learned from those bigger and stronger than me. I shut the fuck up and watched them train. Now, you have people weighing all of 140lbs acting like they know everything in the gym simply because they read an internet article. My guess is it will only get worse.

Why in the flaming hell would you remind everyone of your past thread? Are you masochistic? Man, you deserve what you get for this one.

I did the same. Only after being around enough for most of the guys to realize I was serious did I even ask anyone about diet, reps, form etc…
Under those circumstances just about everyone was extremely helpful and would often allow me to work in with them (only when I knew for sure I could hold my own without taking every damn plate off the bar).

Many things have changed in the gym over the years in regard to training, but the basics are the same. This goes for training and etiquette as well.

It took me forever to get around to posting in a forum other than politics and get a life.

Shoot, I still don’t think I know all that much.

I do know I’m not the only person around here that spent some decent time learning about what was on the site and how the forums worked before jumping in.

What kind of idiot just jumps in with his pud in his hand looking for a free ride?

I think this thread was a bad idea for the op. If people didnt ask dumb questions though most of us wouldn’t have fun hurting their feelings. They do serve a purpose i guess.

The thing is, of all the poster on this board…only about two dozen have any buisness being harsh or blunt with newbies.

i want to discuss this more but I have a bnelly full of Jack daniels.

Wow, I’m really fucking lame.

How’s your hangover?

I will be perfectly honest here. I have gotten to where I don’t log into T-Nation that much anymore because of the flaming, and the condescending attitudes and all the bull shit one has to go through to discuss things with intelligent people. Its not limited to the newbies either, more experienced people and veterans get into flame wars over very stupid things as well.

The OP did deserve the criticism on his topic, not an all out onslaught. Furthermore, it’s not good for the reader of the threads looking for info to read the bs, the op getting mad over the bs, and the people blasting out the flames, they should be spending their time training, learning or living life.

Finally, I think some longer time members should set an example for the newer ones, of not flaming and acting like children. Its expected when the dumb teenagers (no offense) act like children. But when grown ups do it? What kind of example is that for younger lifters and atheletes?
