Saw these guys online. Seem to have pretty good prices. Anyone know if they are any good?
A: Most of these companies, especially the ones that have been around in the Mags for a while, are pretty good and reputable. The biggest issue you have to ask is HOW THEY SHIP! Let me tell you from the personal nightmare of dealing with unionized trucking companies delivering to a home. They often will not give you an exact date or time. They often will only unload in front of the house and CERTAINLY will not bring things into, say, a basement. There is no set up. This (and for several other reasons) is why I’ve gotten my latest equipment from a local company. Service and set-up; that’s the name of the game in my book! It’s worth a few extra bucks!
Good points mufasa, I will check to see if they will go to the rental office if Im not home then I can take care of it with a friend. At least that may be an option.
I purchased a power rack, bench, dumbell racks (2), an Olympic plate tree, and a back extension machine. I was happy with quality. It’s true that there’s no inside delivery and you have to assemble everything yourself – but for the cost savings you get, it’s well worth it. Most of my pieces I assembled in less than 30 minutes.
I have purchased from NYB as well.
Quality is good. I didn’t mind the setup.
Kind of a bonding experience with the equipment, you know?
I’ve owned thier squat rack since Febuary and it has worked fine the entire time.
Their stuff is crap!! You won’t gain anything working with their stuff. In fact, you’ll end up wasting away to nothing. Those fake plates you see in the mainstream rags that the 'roid freaks pose with? Yup, Yorks. Man, stay away from that crap. It’ll make your liver blow up and your kidneys fail. Bad acne too. Oh yeah, and you’ll get bad breath and no woman will want to get near you. (:^)
Really??
Oh yeah I forgot, since I got the squat rack I’ve gotten really bad acne, and I was recently diagnosed with liver cancer. Come to think about it, I haven’t talked to a woman since I got the squat rack. :-0
I got some 18" threaded dumbells from these guys. Customer service was non-existant, shipping cost me more than what I bargained for, in addition to the bells arriving one month late… good product though.
I’m always at the NY Barbell in Hicksville, NY. Great prices, plus they carry Biotest products now. I purchased my Powerblocks from them, actually. Lata.
