Wow, great quad cuts at 10 weeks out. How much do ya think he’ll come in at contest day Thibs?

S

Exactly 186.9lbs (middleweight class limit at nationals is 187)

Lol, you’re so precise it’s amazing.

Funny story, when I was in St. Louis I was training this golfer. Before he stepped on our electronic scale he asked me how much he weighted. “181.7” I said… he stepped on the scale and was something like 183.5. I said “take off your cap” and he was exactly 181.7… he never looked at me quite the same way after that!

Hey Thibs, just curious, but what kind of hat weighs 1.8 lbs? perhaps you meant a vintage WWII German army helmet?[/quote]

lol, I was thinking the same. Maybe he meant “crap”

Viking hat. Nah, I was just using make up numbers since I don’t remember the exact ones. But the actual story is true.

Electronic scales can do that sometimes. Kid is a beast though and does have a steve reevesesque look.

Hey coach,

Just out of curiousity, how does one go about becoming a test subject?

Wow.

However, if he looks like that “completely detrained”(for 3 months completely off, that’s one heck of a physique…) than - his progress is definitely of no actual value to me or any other average guy.

I have no doubts that your program works, and that it works amazingly well. However, have you had some guy that has genetics of usctrojan from Physique clinic? With photos and stats?

I wish that I could tell you that I did, but I don’t. I’ve had a 60 years old firefighter who always was a beanpole (when he was 30 he was 120lbs on 5’11"). This guy probably had worse muscle genetics than Trojan AND at his age his hormonal profile was not ideal to build a ton of size.

Still, he gained 17lbs of muscle in 12 weeks and his deadlift increased by over 100lbs in the first 8 weeks, and his power clean by 60lbs… and that’s a guy who had over 20 years of training experience.

Speaking of age, what do you think is the best age for bodybuilding (to start, gain the most size, most potential, et cetera)?

Between 13 - 15 is a good age to develop the neural aspects (motor patterns, muscle recruitment, etc.)

Between 16 and 19 is normally a great time to build a lot of muscle because of hormone surges

Between 20 and 30 is a period where a lot of gains can be made (good recovery capacity, good hormonal milieu, strong base, etc.)

Most people can make rapid gains into their 30s and 40s

What are your thoughts on younger than 13? I watched a documentary where a man tied small bags of rice around his infant daughter to build the tendons. I am guessing the earlier the better, but nothing too stressful. It used to be believed that weight training stunted growth, but from what I understand, it actually promotes it in young individuals?

Thank you.
