New Surge?

Whoa! Just saw this at the Biotest store. More servings - 16! Is that the same price as 10 servings was? I can’t remember.

Huh… interesting! Well, it’s more servings per container (16 vs. 10), but also is 3 scoops to a single serving vs. the old 2 (if you were 200 lbs or less). So using my incredible math skills that means… umm… OK, actually I have no idea what that means.

I’m pretty sure it’s more expensive overall, but cheaper per serving. Serving size is also larger (3 scoops instead of 2) but the nutritional breakdown appears to be the same.

More servings and a different scoop size. As always, I should have waited one more day.

Old Surge was $2.20 a serving

New Surge is $1.87 a serving

Essentially the same formula except it has magnesium and potassium now.

This is welcome news. This might even be as cheap as a shitty-tasting but nutritionally equivalent [minus the magnesium and potassium] homeade shake of hydrolyzed whey, malto, and dex.

Don’t forget that Surge also has 5250 mg BCAA per serving.

When you say “serving”, do you mean per serving size? (As in the amount you would put in a shake?)

I know. You can buy hydrolyzed whey that results in a comparable amino acid profile. Except for phenylalanine which you would have to add as well if you wanted to get the same levels as Surge. But hey, I’m all for Surge, especially at the new price.

I was going on the standard 200 pound and under recomendation. For the old bottle it was 2 scoops, the new bottle it is 3 scoops. The old bottle had 10 of those servings for 21.99, the new has 16 for 29.99.

Cool, thanks, that’s what I wanted to know.

Surge has 5250mg of supplemental BCAA added in addition to what is naturally found in the WPH. You will not find hydrolyzed whey with the same content unless it had BCAA added to it.

Just ordered some since I’m getting low. Good to see there are more servings for less money per serving.

Sorry. If your label is correct as to your amino acid profile, then my homeade shake had the same amounts of leucine, valine, and isoleucine without adding extra aminos. Perhaps this is because the source I purchased from added aminos to that naturally found in hydrolyzed whey. I don’t know. That’s certainly a logical possibility that would explain it. None of this takes away from the fact that I prefer Surge, particularly at the new price.

OMG

I HAVE TO ORDER SOME NOW

I’ve been in withdrawal forever!

The new look is awesome guys!

Sweet! One of the reasons I was hesitant to buy the old Surge was b/c it only had 10 servings…that would only last me 2.5 weeks…with 16 servings, one tub should last me a month, which for someone who’s a bit strapped for extra dough, is a much better deal. Thanks, Biotest!

The only amino acids listed on the label are those added in their free-form state.

You’ve been comparing apples to oranges.

I love Surge. But why? Why does the label not list the total amount of amino acids? It would be nice to know the full amount. Seems misleading to me to have wrong information on the label. If anything people would appreciate the full profile, and it’d be good for Biotest. Everyone would be happy to learn there is more amino acids.

We think it’s silly to list the amino acids naturally found in the protein.

Silly? Silly to list the actual amount of amino acids in the product? An accurate amino acid profile? That’s silly? You wouldn’t have to distinguish between supplemental amino acids and those naturally occuring in whey protein. List the total amino acids you get in a serving of Surge. Doesn’t seem silly to me. But a good idea. I’ll tell you one thing; nobody would be thinking they get the same amount from hydrolyzed whey.
